Hi there,I bought a new tap from Screwfix. It is a Watersmith Heritage cubic single lever monoboc mixer kitchen tap.

The problem is that when it is switched off it runs a small amount of water for about 10 seconds, then drips for about 10 seconds and goes completely off. I looked at the reviews on the Screwfix website (only 2 reviews) and they mention the same thing.

I was wondering if this is normal for these monobloc taps to do that or if it is anything to do with my water pressure. It is annoying that they don't just switch off.

I am wondering if this is an inherent fault.

I would be grateful if anyone has any advice.

Thank You very much

has to empty the water in the spout so yes

Cheers Shaun, so this is normal then? I am sure I have seen monobloc mixers before that just shut off instantly

Yes you will always get some drops / running but should stop after 5-10 seconds and not come back until you open the tap again

I`ve never understood this, have a single lever monoblock mixer in my kitchen around 12yrs old and it always shuts off straight away with not a single drip.

Does the spout dip up/ rise?

If you look at reviews of a wide variety of monobloc taps, say on screwfix for example, you will see among all the positive reviews, people complaining of the same issue. For example, The Swirl Rapture mono mixer kitchen tap......... "Also as mentioned in the previous reviews, when you turn the tap off it takes 10 seconds before it stops running. The previous tap i had stopped straight away as you turned it off" You read these same issues with a lot of different makes and models. Most people are happy with the taps which leads me to believe it is maybe an issue with water pressure or something else.

That type of horizontally long spout will drip for ages because the water left in the spout top part will all be able to gradually come out.
One possible solution is to replace the airator at the end of spout with one that is more restrictive and for high pressure. It tends to hold the water in.

Not a plumber but an an average DIYer, good topic and yes many of these kitchen monoblocs even the ones that cost £150 to £200 can sometimes drip after being switched off if not for a few seconds or a minute or two.

I find this almost faulty if not annoying!

I read from peoples reviews one woman went back to B&Q and the sales guy let her take the Aerator from the display model (similar tap) and she fitted it on and it stopped the leak.

You can buy the Aerators on ebay also just search, I also had a similar issue so took the rubber black washer out of my aerator and found a slightly bigger and thicker one popped it in and it fixed the issue, you could also try to double the washers or triple it ! (I got a pack of washers from the pound shop all sorted size mixed)

It will all depend on the spout, how long the will release the water within.
