I am pricing to install several showers in a gymnasium there is no spec for the job and what i want to know is as its a commercial installation is there a byelaw stating that the shower valves need to be thermostatic or can i price for standard valves. any advice would be appreciated thanks

the showers them selfs dont need to be thermostatic but you can but an in line mixer that redices the temp for public use the temp should not be ajustable and should not go above a set temp (not sure what the temp is but i will look in to it).

Part 2

Liability is also an issue in commercial premises such as offices, hairdressing salons, leisure centres, hotels and public toilets and washrooms.Businesses can face prosecution if they do not implement protective measures against scalding.

Useful guidance for safe hot water temperatures is provided by the NHS Estates Health Guidance Note, which recommends hot water temperatures of 41°C for washbasins and showers. These temperatures are recommended for all healthcare premises and those registered under the Registered Homes Act 1984(Ref 3),but are applicable for other types of occupied building, including commercial premises.

Our kitchen mixer tap has started dripping. Like so much of the plumbing in our almost new build bungalow, it is lacking! The plumber didn't install any isolating cocks in the H&C feed to the tap so how can I identify which of the valves is passing? Shut the whole H&C water system down?

The fittings below are for a mixer bar attached to a self contained shower. i.e not a wall. The attaching screws have snapped. I could get two new brackets, dismantle that existing one and start again or I could try and re attach via those screws, removing the broken ones from the plate and wall...

Hi. I need a new toilet supply line but don’t know the size type of the fitting at the shut off valve. It is not 3/8 compression. It is a plastic nut about the same size as the one going into the cistern but has a different thread. Attached is a photo. Can you advise. Thanks.

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
