Ive got a customer who has called that wants to replace the normal valves in his taps with ceramic quarter turn ones as the seats are worn. We don't usually do these types of jobs, so I didnt know if they would work if the seats are worn through. Apparently they have has the seats re-done in them once already, but they don't want to pay for new taps. The tap is an aquamixa bath mixer tap.

Very very un-likely that you could, there are just so many threads sizes, depths & spindle / splines etc that they would have to match.

New taps unless they want to pay for your time to try !!!

I thought as much, that why we don't usually do this wort of thing!

Ceramic discs = new taps. You can lose hours finding the right bits. Just see the custs face. ÂŁ60 for parts and job, ÂŁ200 for finding parts :)

Ceramic like for likes are a nightmare as so many different sizes spindle lengths etc. Some are stamped on brass but ones that arent are a nightmare and there are too many to keep stck of all so i just keep most popular ones... what your customers are askin you would be cheaper just gettin cheap tap as time you take to locate exact fit isnt worth the hassle and time..... i bought a set of lever type 1/4 turn taps for one of my customers as she has arthrietes and taps were 40 off flea bay . New ofcourse....
