    hi,

We noticed a leak in our living room tonight after bathing our little boy. But if investigation and noticed the overflow pipe seems to have split and so waste water is pouring out of where the pipe attaches to the plug.
It’s the tightest if spaces (can just about get my arm under) and it seems as though the pipe has split rather than just come off.

Any idea if I can just fit a new pipe? The existing part that fits onto the plug seems to sealed/masticked on so god knows how to get that off.
It’s really tight so reluctant to try and replace the whole unit as it might cause more leaks by disturbing the trap etc. I’ve attsched a photo and any help would be massively appreciated :)

Yes you can and the other end should just pull off

The hardest part is replacing the tube at the overflow end

Looks a fair bit of space there, so shouldn’t be too difficult.
But we plumbers are used to working in tight spaces.
The flexi overflow could be cut off carefully. The long remaining part might reach to reconnect on, but if not, then needs replaced.

One warning is to be careful about the fibreglass that is on base of bath, because it is literally like needles and will get below the skin

That looks like plumbers mait stuck all over, should be able to just rub it off, it's a bit like putty.

I don’t like thise type of bath overflow . these are not great at all. I’d replace the whole lot and get something more decent

Thank you, I’ll keep that in mind about the fibre glass! You pro plumbers must have inspecter gadget type arms if you think that’s a lot of room :)
Probably a stupid question, but can I replace the waste without actually getting to the back of the bath? It’s compketkt boxed/tiled in so only way would be to demolish all of that.
