Thanks - this is what I did. the thread connecting the syphon to the swivel section that puts the "out" pipe under the syphon was cracked. I mended with araldite rapid and it is OK for now, but don't know how secure araldite is under water. If it doesn't last I may replace with a flowmaster duoflush which has a lever option on the end of a cable. |I could drill trough the side of the cistern at the top to fix the lever in place.I would just mend the one you have if nothing else will fit. The worst is if a seam weld in the plastic has opened up, this can be remade with judicious use of blow torch if you're brave, or these days try CT1.

Thanks for this. Unfortunately the Dudley S1 is too large by about 4 cm. The cistern is an antique - could be 70 years old connected with lead pipes (Shire Uni-Lynx), and I think the syphon was specially designed to fit. Its a neat design with the syphon chamber actually sitting through a swivel over the out pipe.This is taken from snowhead's link;
1.5" outlet size Dudley Turbo S1-11 easy maintenance syphon available in two sizes. 9" spillover or 10.5" spillover height. These syphons are designed to fit narrow cisterns or the older high level well bottomed cisterns. Please be sure to select the height of the syphon required.
For some reason puts me in mind of my lovely wife..
Thanks - Yes - A flapper (Flowmaster with a lever) is my plan B if the current one pegs out. Thanks also for the Dauntless info. I'll see if I can get the distance from the middle of the "out" pipe to the edge of the housing. It looks similar to the Dudley S1 which is too big. Cheers.Won't a flapper get in there? They have a small footprint.
