Hi folks,

I have read over many threads on this forum but I think it has actually made me a little more confused!! Can you just simply tell me is it the 6089 or 6189 that I need to gain the proper qualification before I can go on and do my level 3 and become an "advanced plumber" Obviously I intend to go out and gain hands on work as well as working in college hands on and theory!

Thanks in advance,

Adam

Basically you need nvq 3 in plumbing with ccn1. You can only get an nvq by doing the 6189 technical certificate. It is actually part of the nvq.

And, to gain your nvq, you need to be working in the trade so an assessor can come out and assess you and sign off your portfolio

Thanks for your reply mutley, everyone keeps on telling me different things!

No worries feller. I think now though, just to make it more confusing, nvq's are not around any more. It is a thing called QCF. which grades you for each section you do. Very confusing

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...

Hello all, I’m replacing a concrete paving slab patio in the back yard. The original patio used 50mm deep concrete slabs on hardcore & sand. I’m planning to pour a 100mm deep concrete patio on 100mm hardcore. In order to achieve the same final height to line up with the rest of the patio, I...
