I am shortly to be made redundant (age 39) and have mortgage insurance etc for 1 yr.
I would like to be a self employed plumber after that but only have that oneyear to learn.
I'm based in Derbys but could travel within an hour for a training course - if necessary.
The closest are met-uk and New career Skills - there is also a local tech college, but that would take 2 yrs.
Do you HAVE to be qualified to start if you can do the work ? I dont want to spend £5k if its not needed.
I understand that I could work alongside another plumber, but asssume that it would be very difficult to find one.

Any advice would be appreciated.
