worktop
A countertop, also counter top, counter, benchtop, worktop (British English) or kitchen bench (Australian or New Zealand English), is the firm, flat, horizontal surface of a counter. They are built for work in kitchens or other food preparation areas, bathrooms or lavatories, and workrooms in general. The surface is frequently installed upon and supported by cabinets, positioned at an ergonomic height for the user and the particular task for which it is designed. A countertop may be constructed of various materials with different attributes of functionality, durability and aesthetics, and may have built-in appliances, or accessory items relative to the intended application.
In Australian and British English, the term counter is generally reserved for a surface of this type that forms a boundary between a space for public access and a space for workers to carry out service tasks. In other contexts, the term bench or benchtop is used.
Trying to fit a mixer tap with this sort of fastening. Bit that goes up inside the tap is like a threaded running nipple but when fully screwed in only 40mm produdes and worktop is 40mm thick so no thread to screw nut onto. I am not even sure of the thread size. Across the flats on the nut...
Have to fit a Belfast sink to an oak worktop. Have a jig on the way. Reading all the blurb about using the jig all the makes seem the same. Namely they state the worktop should overhang the sink by 10mm, both sides and rear. Also that the worktop should be level with a datum line drawn through...
Probably been asked before but will ask again. Am fitting out the utility room and having a quandry, if one can have such a thing, as to width of worktop. How do people get away with worktops 600mm deep if they have any sort of pipework going behind without appliances ie washer and dryer...
I currently have a Gloworm Hideaway Boiler (37KW) under the Kitchen worktop. I think it is now 30 years old. This boiler is 855mm (H) x 480mm (W) x 510mm (D). The cupboard is 600mm wide, 895mm from floor to underside worktop and the depth is 580mm from back (external) wall to nearer face of...

Hi all.
I don't normally fit these sinks but recently been doing them on a council job. The sinks are supplied with the rubber strip that goes underneath the edges. Do you lot bother using the rubber/sponge strip or just silicone? What do you treat the edges of the work top with on the cut out...
I purchase a Bristan "Renaissance Bridge Deck Sink Mixer" but need to extend or replace the included tap legs as it is being installed behind a belfast sink that is going to be placed on top of a 40mm thick timber benchtop. At the moment the back of the sink will block the porcelain levers. Can...

Just wondering what you lot would charge to fit a gas hob, kitchen sink and connect the washing machine and dishwasher.
The hob is fitted into the worktop and the gas is allready there so it just needs the gas valve and connecting.
The sink will need making up and fitting to the worktop but...
Hi I'm doing up my house and I'm looking for a combi boiler, the space i want it to go in will only allow for a boiler 630mm in height if this is possible. Also I would like to know, do I need to leave 200mm clearance top and bottom. Thank you.
Just in the process of planning a kitchen, but I am confused about the clearances required for a gas hob. Electric is going in now, but might as well make sure that space is left to allow a gas hob.
If wall cabinets are fitted adjacent to this the hob area is an additional 50mm each size...
Morning all, I'm struggling to find a pair of pillar taps which will be long enough to fit through a 54mm worktop. All of the ones I have looked at are the standard 50mm thread which is uselss. I can't even recess the tap holes in the worktop due to access restrictions. HELP !!!!!
