Verdana is a humanist sans-serif typeface designed by Matthew Carter for Microsoft Corporation, with hand-hinting done by Thomas Rickner, then at Monotype. Demand for such a typeface was recognized by Virginia Howlett of Microsoft's typography group and commissioned by Steve Ballmer. The name "Verdana" is based on verdant (something green), and Ana (the name of Howlett's eldest daughter).Bearing similarities to humanist sans-serif typefaces such as Frutiger, Verdana was designed to be readable at small sizes on the low-resolution computer screens of the period. Like many designs of this type, Verdana has a large x-height (tall lower-case characters), with wider proportions and looser letter-spacing than on print-orientated designs like Helvetica. The counters and apertures are wide, to keep strokes clearly separate from one another, and similarly shaped letters are designed to appear clearly different to increase legibility for body text. The bold weight is thicker than would be normal with fonts for print use, suiting the limitations of onscreen display. Carter has described spacing as an area he particularly worked on during the design process.Monotype designed the Opel Next typeface collaborated with Velocity McCann agency, inspired from the Verdana typeface.
Hi folks,
I'm a customer who has a 3 year old Logic Combi 35 in my house that has been losing pressure regularly since the new year.
At first it was every 3/4 days but I tried adding a leak inhibitor which delayed it to every 7 days, but after a couple of week it returned to every 3/4 days...
I'm having my kitchen refurbished and wish to place a gas 'range' on an external wall for ease of venting as opposed to what I already have with a electric ceramic hob/oven on an internal wall.
My current copper pipework runs outside my property from the meter in the garage (where the combi...
Hi all
I'm wondering if anyone can help with any suggestions on a very frustrating problem
We moved into a house about 2 years ago and it had the greenstar 24i junior feeding a mega flow.
Randomly, the boiler would lock out - the blue, reset and eco light flash in sequence.
As soon as you...
Hi All,
Hoping someone can help....The hot surface igniter keeps burning out.
I've just tested a new one, I'm getting approx 170VAC which drops to 120VAC once the burner has lite but it seems the PCB is not switching the igniter off. I've left the boiler running for 3-4 minutes and there's...
Hi I have read about thermal store but I don't understand if:
1. Can I use it with a "conventional" boiler and no other form of heat provision?
2. Is it an efficient way to have mains pressure domestic water?
Thanks

I am changing some of my house pipes. I had a quote of 2.5k for changing few pipes and joining them using solder fitting.
I am competent enough to lay the pipes and use yorkshire fitting which has the solder ring in it. All that is needed is heat to release it .
I have managed to...

I have a garage/shed/whatever you want to call it, which has equipment inside, which relies on steady pressure of water to work properly...
Over the last few weeks I noticed a small drip from the hot water handle where it meets the body. Quick google showed it used quarter-turn cartridges and this needed replacing. Today I decided to tackle it and am regretting it since I started.
Easy enough to remove the screw covers, the screws...

Hi folks
I'm trying to remove the valves of my bath mixer taps (they are against the wall). I've tried various DIY spanners, pliers, WD40 etc but it just wont budge.
So are there any tricks or special tools for getting the valve out?
Sorry photo is sideways :-)
Hi all,
I'm trying to figure out why my zone valve doesn't full open to get the radiator pipes hot when I use the thermostat?
I can manually spin the valve until I hear the hot water running through the pipes and then all is fine and the pipes get hot really fast but without manual stimulation...

Decided to plumb copper to my bath valves rather than flexible hoses as this is a job I only want to do once. I tried 3 local shops for some 15mm x 3/4" solder ring tap connectors and eventually found some.
Unfortunately the hole in the bottom of the bath valve has a smaller diameter (ID...
