restrictor
A restrictor plate or air restrictor is a device installed at the intake of an engine to limit its power. This kind of system is occasionally used in road vehicles (e.g., motorcycles) for insurance purposes, but mainly in automobile racing, to limit top speed to provide equal level of competition, and to lower costs; insurance purposes have also factored in for motorsports.
Hello Plumbers. We had a gas fire fitted, one of those that looks like a log burner. I need to take it out to paint the wall behind. It has a restrictor valve under it but no isolating valve that I can see. Is the restrictor an isolator as well? Should there be a separate isolating valve? Is it...
So far, despite the obvious reputation, we’ve been really lucky with our Ferroli Optimax HE 31C. Only had two replacement diverter valves fitted in its life so far and very little else has gone wrong but has been regularly serviced so hopefully will last a little bit longer HOWEVER a small drip...
Hello
The gas restrictor elbow in the picture was fitted by a gas safe engineer. The gas fire is on the left and the supply is on the right. Has this been fitted correctly?
Thanks
Hi
I was having an issue with my outside tap, where if I turned it on too far the pressure and flow would suddenly be reduced to a trickle. Replacing the tap didn't make any difference. I've found where the pipe joins the cold water feed, and just after the isolation valve, there's another...
I am removing a fire on Monday and need to pick up a plug for the restrictor elbow
Does anyone know off the top of your head is it a 1/4” or 3/8” plug needed?
Anyone else had complaints of poor hot flow on Vaillant combis?
They are restricted to the lpm that allows the boiler to give a 42 degree rise
24kw 8lpm
30kw 10lpm
It means the water is hot but the flow “isn’t as good as the old boiler”
Hi. Just about to connect the cistern and came round to fitting the filter restrictor. At first I couldn't push it in to the inlet, however it just needed a little push.
Is that normal?
More importantly, the instructions state you should cut it down accordingly, depending on the water pressure...
Hi all,
I did a landlord gas safety check this week. Drop test showed a 2mbar/2 mins leak. But off I went to find it.
I found the main leak on an old cooker. The tenant could smell gas, but only when the cooker was being used. So I condemned it, and recommended a new cooker.
I also found a leak...
Hi all, my first post here :)
I've recently installed a Grohe Precision Joy, and notice that the pressure is lower than my old shower head (gravity fed system).
The instructions come with the following picture which seems to imply I can change the connector depending on my water flow...
Hi - just installing my own Baxi duo tec 40 as have had new water mains supply and water pressure is very powerful. On installing I noticed in the manual it says there is a flow restrictor built into the cold water inlet tail nut which connects onto the jig - my question is why would they...

Hi,
I've just replaced my toilet cistern with a 'Fluidmaster' compact cistern and all seems to be working well.
I'm not sure though if I should have a flow restrictor installed and exactly where it goes, presumably in the inlet to the Torbeck valve?
The cistern is filled from the Mains and...

I'm asking a question about the vaillant combi boiler as my mother in law is always complaining about the dhw only getting luke warm when tap is fully open and when showering it becomes intermittently luke warm to hot.
since it is a older combi I've looked at the instruction manual but...
Any one ever seen a restrictor elbow cap become loose and start to leak, went to a job today where we fitted a fire 6-8 months ago and all of a sudden there was a smell of gas, that turned out to be the cap on the restrictor elbow, yet it'd been fine for 6-8 months, I think someone had been...
Hi can some tell me if the inter gas combi boilers have a flow restrictor built in like others do? Reason I'm asking i went out to a job where the customer has bought a house with this boiler already installed. The problem is when they open the taps fully open it gets Luke warm water but if you...
Fitting one today and its only letting 7.8 LPM through
I know its only a 24kw but its a bit pants
Is there a flow restrictor that can be removed or changed? I cant see anything in the MI's about it
I have the possibility of siting a back to wall WC on a stud wall with a void behind that can be opened up above to accommodate a high level cistern; any one know if this can work?

I've got a Flavel Misermatic to install soon with an old 12mm supply from the restrictor elbow.
I haven't installed one of these before... Can I get an 8mm adapter for the existing restrictor elbow or do I replace the whole thing? Someone has told me to reduce the 12mm but is that right?
Thanks!
