proper
Proper motion is the astrometric measure of the observed changes in the apparent places of stars or other celestial objects in the sky, as seen from the center of mass of the Solar System, compared to the abstract background of the more distant stars. The components for proper motion in the equatorial coordinate system (of a given epoch, often J2000.0) are given in the direction of right ascension (μα) and of declination (μδ). Their combined value is computed as the total proper motion (μ). It has dimensions of angle per time, typically arcseconds per year or milliarcseconds per year.
Knowledge of the proper motion, distance, and radial velocity allows calculations of an object's motion from our star system's frame of reference and its motion from the galactic frame of reference – that is motion in respect to the Sun, and by coordinate transformation, that in respect to the Milky Way.
Plumber replaced drain line under the bathroom. The drain line transitions from a 2 inch drain line to a 4 inch Y connector. Is this connection proper? I wonder if the Y connector should have a 2 inch opening to accept the 2 inch drain line to make this a proper transition.
Hello! I'm Canadian so you may wonder what I'm doing on a UK plumbing forum. I'm basically just here to learn the British term for a tool that I've seen recommended in American plumbing videos. As you probably don't know, Canada has a curious mix of terminologies at times and sometimes we use...

Hi. Just wondering how a properly functioning pressure relief valve operates.
Does it have it's its own mechanism that detects when the pressure is above 3bar? Or does in rely on the water pressure sensor? The two don't appear to be linked in any physical way.
Also, when a correctly operating...

Just got back from Petworth House. The big picture galleries and fine furniture were pleasant enough, but the real treasures are to be found in the old kitchens.
The guide was telling me that the two taps are not hot and cold, but both cold - potable and non-potable.
There was also an old...

Hi all,
On Monday my neighbours builder, when putting a new fence in between our properties ruptured the lead pipe main inlet to our flat. I went outside and they told me they were going to fix it. Later I returned and saw the 'fix'. They had used some sort of plastic/rubber or similar wrapping...
