pressures
Pressure (symbol: p or P) is the force applied perpendicular to the surface of an object per unit area over which that force is distributed.: 445 Gauge pressure (also spelled gage pressure) is the pressure relative to the ambient pressure.
Various units are used to express pressure. Some of these derive from a unit of force divided by a unit of area; the SI unit of pressure, the pascal (Pa), for example, is one newton per square metre (N/m2); similarly, the pound-force per square inch (psi) is the traditional unit of pressure in the imperial and U.S. customary systems. Pressure may also be expressed in terms of standard atmospheric pressure; the atmosphere (atm) is equal to this pressure, and the torr is defined as 1⁄760 of this. Manometric units such as the centimetre of water, millimetre of mercury, and inch of mercury are used to express pressures in terms of the height of column of a particular fluid in a manometer.
Hi,
We have a potterton apollo boiler and it's showing a E1 fault due to a drop in pressure.
Normally I just pull down the green lever inside to increase the pressure but zilch is happening when I do this.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
As the title really folks. Who uses what to check pressures and carrying out tightness tests? I’m not to keen with the analysers to be honest. I was checking a burner pressure recently and with the analyser it was fluctuating up and down but with the u gauge it was solid?
Good evening all,
I am a new member, a retired engineer, but not a heating engineer.
I have a problem with my 38cxi with after burn at the end of the pre-heat cycle, that my Service Engineer has not experienced, and which Gow-Worm support do not appear to be able to advise on. I can tell when...
Hi,
My kitchen mixer tap is one of those with an integral hose and pull-out spray head. The hot and cold supplies are different pressures so it's not possible to regulate the temperature. Since the cold water pressure is higher, turning on the cold water with the hot causes cold water to flow...
Having a bit of a moment understanding reading water pressures dynamic and standing. I've looked at a system and the standing pressure was around 2 bar and dynamic with kitchen sink running about 0.25-.05 bar.
So when a combi requires a minimum 1 bar pressure is this asking for dynamic? My worry...
I've got a job to price for an unvented hot water cylinder, I have taken water pressures as follows
Standing 4bar
Dynamic 0.5-0.8
flow rate of 22ltr/m
The incoming main is 25mm mdpe.
I know most manufacturers recommend a dynamic pressure of 1.5 bar, what do you guys think?
Thanks
I remember someone had all the fan pressures for the entire range, but can't find it anywhere?
If you have it, would you mind posting a copy up!
Cheers in advance :hurray:
Hi I wonder if you can help. What should the burner pressure be for a vailiant eco tech 824 boiler I am having trouble finding it in the manual.
Thanks
Hi Guys,
i am looking for some advice,i have a customer who has recently removed his basement bathroom and wants a shower fitted.'Nice job i hear you cry'! The problem is, there is only a 15mm hot water service (tank fed) and a 15mm cold main. The hot water cylinder is two floors up, so its a...

Installed a new boiler, got working pressure, perfect. FGA readings. Fine.
Did gas rate and it was saying its working way out of its capacity!
Meter was electronic card reading type and all taps were fancy with flow resistors which im presuming was making my gas rate out.
Any1 had anything...
Really cannot afford to get someone in as have just moved into house.
Its a bungalow with a loft conversion.
Heating is from a worcester 50 70 oil boiler.
There is no heat reaching upstairs rads at all. Having done basic searches i understand i have to increase pressure in the system...
I went out to fit a freestanding cooker at a property however after doing to relevant gas checks found that when the cooker and boiler running the working pressure at the boiler was low, it was a heatline vizo which requires 20mb at the inlet of the appliance, however I found hat I have only...
When you guys come across hobs in cp12's, how do you check the WP?
If the wp at the boiler is ok, then could you go as far as to say the coomer would be ok? I don't do any cp12's yet but am going to start. Do I need to start carrying test points in van to cut in?
Does anyone use a digital manometer?
Which do you use and would you recommend having one in addition to a water one?
Can they be used or burner pressures as well as tightness tests?
Thanks and merry xmas to all :carolers:
Hi guys!!

I am writing up 2 jobs we done last week and I am a little cconfused. We serviced a

Hello, i am GSR fiter, after some more advice. I fitted a gas fire today, the standing pressure at the meter is 18mbar, working pressure at meter is 18mbar. The inlet pressure at the fire is 17mbar.
Thats a 1 mbar drop so when the standing pressure is adjusted it should be ok? do i just get...
