In general linguistics, a reflexive pronoun, sometimes simply called a reflexive, is an anaphoric pronoun that must be coreferential with another nominal (its antecedent) within the same clause.
In the English language specifically, a reflexive pronoun will end in -self or -selves, and refer to a previously named noun or pronoun (myself, yourself, ourselves, themselves, etc.). English intensive pronouns, used for emphasis, take the same form.
In generative grammar, a reflexive pronoun is an anaphor that must be bound by its antecedent (see binding). In a general sense, it is a noun phrase that obligatorily gets its meaning from another noun phrase in the sentence. Different languages have different binding domains for reflexive pronouns, according to their structure.
Hi
When my boiler was serviced this year the plumber found the leak as shown in the photo. I was told that the problem may have resolved itself but if not I may need a new boiler. I have three questions please:
1) What has caused this problem?
2) Now I know the problem is there (it's normally...
Hi everyone - a mildly amusing situation!
I am not plumber but have done few bits at home over the years. At the moment, myself with a few others are looking after a church that is being sold. The current bathroom set up is eighteen years old. In three sets of toilets there are a total of 4...
I have a weird question. I went into my bathroom and found my partner had put so much toilet paper in the toilet that it was blocked. I tried flushing it and the water filled up almost to the top of the bowl before slowly going back down to a normal level. The flush had completely finished but...
Hi,
The boiler is coming on when the timer clock is set to off. Because the timer clock is off no motorised valves open and so no heat gets around the house but the radiator nearest the boiler gets hot, (obviously not controlled by the valves).
Why would this happen?
The control box was...
I wonder if anyone can help diagnose a problem I'm having.
My hot water won't come on by itself.
The system is a pretty bog-standard gravity fed type with the cylinder, pump, 2 port valve etc in a first-floor airing cupboard.
If I switch on the heating by itself it works.
If I switch on the...
problems with combi, heating control thermostat doesn’t seem to click off when you turn the knob to min after it’s been on for 10mins? Also the customer says the boiler switches off after 20mins but the high limit hasn’t been activated?
Hot water is fine just the heating overheating and...
Hi all,
Strange query here...! I recently replaced my timer/programmer thanks to the help of folk on here.
I now have a Drayton lifestyle 7 day programmer, a Honeywell junction box, and a very old but well serviced and working Potterton Kingfisher MF boiler.
Recently (Not just when cold...
Hi All
I am a new member and this is my first post. I have been doing DIY for some 50 years, but I find this one a total mystery:
My WC (mains water) inlet keeps running, but slowly. I have replaced the valve but still it doe not shut off.
To save wasting water I turned the maintenance valve...

Hi, we've had a new Ideal Logic + 30 Combi boiler installed very recently, replacing an old back boiler and immersion tank. The boiler has a non programmable wireless thermostat and a mechanical clock fitted on the boiler. Magnaclean Filter installed.

Hi, can anyone help please? My Danfoss TP9000 has randomly started ignoring all settings/programming and won't turn itself off at the right times...or at all in fact. HW seems to be working OK but CH stays on 24/7 despite only being set to be on 7am-10pm.
I've tried resetting the controls and...
Hi guys went to have a look at this tonight, customer switches boiler off at the programmer, it goes off. Then it comes back on again.

Faulty programmer? Drayton LP5SS
Had a call from a customer and they had a leak last night from a chrome towel radiator i fitted nearly 2 years ago ,
This wasn't just a drip it was a flood and totally emptied the pressurised system , I expected it to be a faulty fiting but when I arrived the Union nut was completely loose to...
Hi Guys,
First and foremost a quick apology should this be in the wrong part of the forum. I have put here in the general section of the forum as frankly I am not entirely sure what part of my plumbing is actually causing the problems...
Cutting a long story short, I essentially have a...

Hi guys,
Got a problem with an IDEAL i30. It keeps turning itself on even though the timer is set to off. It's not on the pre-heat setting and the burner light (blue) doesn't light up but it turns itself on seemingly at random and runs for a random time. (Could be a minute, could be five)...
Hi guys, I'm working on a combi that every time you put the hot water tap on and then switch it off again it keeps on burning, the temperature keeps on rising and makes a lot of air bubbling noses. The expansion vessel also has been dropping so I'm guessing that need re pressurising or a new...

Hi all
We have had a ideal logic plus boiler for about 4 months now and it's been fine. However tonight while we were in bed we thought we heard it come on and sure enough when we felt the radiators they were ever so slightly warm.
I checked the boiler and it said pump overrun so it had been...

We have a Triton Enlight shower that's about 3 years old and has been working great up to now. In the last 2 days it has started turning itself off mid-shower. It hasn't happened enough for me to get a proper pattern but it seems fine for my shower first thing in the morning. But the second...
