heats
Latent heat (also known as latent energy or heat of transformation) is energy released or absorbed, by a body or a thermodynamic system, during a constant-temperature process — usually a first-order phase transition.
Latent heat can be understood as energy in hidden form which is supplied or extracted to change the state of a substance without changing its temperature. Examples are latent heat of fusion and latent heat of vaporization involved in phase changes, i.e. a substance condensing or vaporizing at a specified temperature and pressure. The term was introduced around 1762 by British chemist Joseph Black. It is derived from the Latin latere (to lie hidden). Black used the term in the context of calorimetry where a heat transfer caused a volume change in a body while its temperature was constant.
In contrast to latent heat, sensible heat is energy transferred as heat, with a resultant temperature change in a body.
Hi All,
I have a really weird (to me) issue/feature in a house we've just moved into.
The CH and the HW work perfectly fine when they are both active. That is, when both are switched on at the control unit. However, if I switch the CH off but leave the HW on, the water doesn't heat. The boiler...
Hi everyone.
I have the old style boiler, basically last year it started not working after being on for 10 mins.. Replaced the pump and 3 way port valve cleared the lines, bled everything, cleaned it all out Etc. Literally done most things.
Basically it will work bit o my if I manually position...
I’d really appreciate some advice.
We moved into a new build 3 story town house last Monday. It’s got a Worcester boiler & 2 wireless thermostats (one by the front door, the other on the first floor landing).
When the downstairs thermostat asks for heat (to warm up the kitchen & lounge) every...
Hi all
Looking for some help please!
It concerns an ideal logic plus 24 combi.
When you switch the central heating on it fires up fine. All the radiators get up to temperature. It then stops and the radiators cool down. All good! They do not come back on, even when the room is noticeably...
Hi all,
I have a gerkros oil fired, high efficiency condensing boiler with a Riello burner. The issue we have at the moment is that it heats water only when the control panel is set to Hot water only. When we set it to central heating and hot water it won't heat either?
I believe the maker is...

Hi,
I am having an issue with my Flexicom 24cx boiler working with my CH.
Whenever I want my heating on, I set the burn temp to around 75C. The room will reach the desired temperature but instead of the boiler knocking off, it constantly heats and makes the room hotter than desired...

Hi,
Recently my gas-fired central heating system was updated to two zones each operated by its own programmable Honeywell thermostat , 1) main house & 2) annex.
Both work except the one heats up the rads on both sides, the other heats up only his own side.
Can you please explain what would...
Hello,
Currently trying to get some mucky rads sorted, all done with no drama, however........
I have a double in the living room, that, I've flushed twice, and it's the only one not heating properly?
I did it yesterday, and again this morning, but the same thing happens, heats a bit on the...

I have a 10 year old Worcester Bosch 30 HE combi boiler, serviced each year by Worcester Bosch. There are 6 radiators - all modest size - and a bathroom towel rail on the system, in a standard size non-extended 3 bedroom 1930’s semi. My Hall radiator – the last...
Got called to a breakdown, went through the process of isolating the problem and found the burner motor to be the problem; volt pen lights up at the connection to the wiring but the fan doesn't turn and it goes to lockout.
Problem is finding the replacement motor as it's old. Parts Centre have...
Hi guys, Over the last few months I noticed that the hot water temperature in the shower has been fluctuating from very hot to stone cold every few minutes. Thought it was the thermostatic shower control but decided to check the boiler first. Boiler pressure is 1.5bar, mains cold water supply...

Hi there,
I recently come across a problem where by a customer's radiators were heating up when he turned the boiler to 'hot water' only.
The central heating is off, but it still heats up the rads. The boiler is one of those combination things where the boiler has it's own integral...

Hi
My problem is that I have hot water but no central heating (although the central heating does get slightly warm but only for a short while and not enough heat to warm a room let alone heat it)

Hi I got called to a vokera combi boiler the other day where it had turned off after heating up the house and would not come back on again. So I turned it off at the plug, turned it on again and it all worked fine. So, I said if it ever cuts out again just do this. Well I have just had a call...
Got a call customer has no hot water. So turn up they tell me the potterton prima f60 had been making a noise and over heating. They had been resetting the over heat. But it only happens on hot water. So I pop upstairs to find a sticking Drayton 3 port. I swap that to a Honeywell and all is...
