float
A float is a decorated platform, either built on a vehicle like a truck or towed behind one, which is a component of many festive parades, such as those of Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, the Carnival in São Paulo, the Carnival of Viareggio, the Maltese Carnival, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Key West Fantasy Fest parade, the Mardi Gras in New Orleans, the 500 Festival Parade in Indianapolis, the United States Presidential Inaugural Parade, and the Tournament of Roses Parade. For the latter event, floats are decorated entirely in flowers or other plant material.
Hi guys
What connection goes on to the part floats please? It looks like it should be a compression to me rather than tap connector?
I’ll add a pic
Cheers
I assumed that the red ball float was for a header tank on the central heating side and the blue ball float was on a cold water storage tank. I thought the reason for this was only to help identify the tank but after finding a lot of cold water storage tanks with a red float, I must be wrong...
I have moved into a property and amongst several other issues, the toilet float valve appears to keep getting stuck and therefore prevented from filling.
I am unsure what type of float valve I have.
Each time I push the top part of the float (pictured on the left) it then starts to fill.
I...
My double flush toilet has developed a fault. It won't stop filling eve when I pull the float arm right up. I have replaced the inlet valve diaphragm but this has made no difference
What else can i try?
Hi,
Have had 2 break where dial just doesnt work. Seem pretty cheap light plastic devices. Any one know of more durable, robust ones which are also very accurate. Maybe wrong but always believed heavy duty brass dials etc lasted far longer and more accurate although more expensive. Only manual...
Hi
Had a quote from a plumber to replace two toilet float valves in a flat for £282. Had 2 questions:
1. Is this the right solution? It doesn't feel right to me.
2. Am I being overcharged?
The problem is noisy pipes within the flat. The noise happens when water is being used anywhere in the...
Hello all, we just moved into a house with a oil Rayburn range as the primary source of heating, but it has been off for about 10 years. We havent had any luck finding an engineer or knowledgeable person due to our extremely remote location and covid 19.
the problem seems to be that as oil...
Tonight the arm of the ballcock feeding the cold water storage cistern in my attic broke (quite puzzling: maybe due to strong wind causing some turbulence??).
Anyway, I need to replace it. I know it's faster to replace only the part inside the tank, undoing the very last compression nut.
But...
Hello. Need some help please...I have a concealed cistern and the side entry float keeps getting stuck. I have done jobs such as changing these things before but a little bit hesitant as unfamiliar with the connection I can see before me. I know its a compression one but can I undo the nut...
Hi there, i am trying to by-pass the floating switch in a well water tank, in order to use the water directly from the well.
currently, i can only use water post tank unless i disconnect the float and have the tank overflow ! I remember there is a way to do this, Hurricane Irma destroyed the...
Hey guys
So I got back to my flat last night and noticed my toilet kept overflowing from the cistern into the bowl. So a constant very slow trickle of water flowing into the funnel circled in blue (photo attached)
Anyway - I took the top off my cistern and started fiddling around with...
I was just hoping for a bit of advice. I recently had to change the float valve in my toilet and did it myself as it seemed quite straightforward. The old valve seemed to have been stuck in with sealant so it was quite hard to get out. I fitted the new valve but noticed a very slight leak...
Hi guys: Anyone familiar with float valve sizes for commercial/residential properties? I have been asked to look at a cold water cistern that supplies 16 flats as the float valve requires to be serviced or perhaps replaced. The connecting pipework is run in 42mm copper. Thanks for any help.
Hi, I'm new to all this but I've got a dripping/leaking overflow pipe in a 1970's bungalow, I'm sure it's coming from the float valve because it's not ****ting off completely and constantly dripping although when I raise the ballcock it stops.? The next thing is I can't see where I turn the...
Hi all
I have installed a new toilet cistern in let valve and it is rubbing against the inside of the cistern and won't fill up. I can't take the cistern apart now because it isn't accessible. Any ideas to help me please?
Thank you
Martyn
This is a picture of a float valve I have recently been asked to replace. The cistern it is situated in is very slim and very difficult to access, so if possible I'd like to identify this valve and replace it like for like.
Has anyone seen this particular valve themselves, and if so, do you know...
Hi all,
I've been having problems with a fitted toilet and water leaking into the bowl. On inspection I've come to the conclusion that it must be the float valve.
I've managed to remove and check the outlet valve with not much problem and I've also unclipped the float valve from the side of...
ive had problems with overflow running - i decided would try to resolve and bought a new type 2 valve for the cold water tank. however, the tank does not seem to have the standard fitting. Is the valve in the pictures easily replaceable? I don't understand the fitting or how you would remove it...

Hi, I have just replaced an ideal standard inlet float valve for a new one (dudley hydoflo float valve). I have left the flow reducer in (water pressure is approx 1.8 bar) however when the float moves upwards the water doesn't stop flowing!
I have tried another inlet ball valve and this does...
I've just bought a house with an old oil central heating system. The level guage was hovering over 20 and it goes from 0-200. The tank it a lot bigger than 200 litres so I presumed it held 2000 and the guage was showing it in 10ths. Within a day of running the central heating. The level went...
