bathroom

A bathroom or washroom is a room, typically in a home or other residential building, that contains either a bathtub or a shower (or both). The inclusion of a wash basin is common. In some parts of the world e.g. India, a toilet is typically included in the bathroom; in others, the toilet is typically given a dedicated room separate from the one allocated for personal hygiene activities. In North American English the word 'bathroom' is sometimes used to refer to any room in a residence that contains a toilet, regardless of the inclusion of a bath or shower.
Historically, bathing was often a collective activity, which took place in public baths. In some countries the shared social aspect of cleansing the body is still important, as for example with sento in Japan and the "Turkish bath" (also known by other names) throughout the Islamic world.

The bathroom tap 300mm flexi is too short

Hello I have had to adjust a sink hight by several mm. Now my bathroom basin 300mm flexi is a fraction too short. It does up but under tension. Is there a bush of some sort that I could use to extend by a few mm. Ideally 1cm or more. I’m thinking that a 500mm would have too much slack. Or would...

Cold water supply to a bathroom washbasin in a modern flat?

I refer to modern purpose-built flats - built within the last 35 years, say. How common is it, in this type of accommodation, for the cold water supply to a bathroom washbasin to come indirectly through a cold water storage tank? Or is it far more common for the cold water supply to come...

Hi I've had to cut hot and cold feed to re route for bathroom feeds. The 22mm Copper pipe hot feed is slightly smaller then my 22mm Copper. Solder fittings just slip over it and are really loose so I gather this is old imperial pipe, so I shall use a 3/4 to 22mm coupler. However on the...

Why does my bathroom smell like sewage?

We’ve got a bathroom in a 3 year old loft conversion. Pretty much the first time warmer weather rolled around a few months after it was done, I started to notice a bad smell in there – somewhat sewage-like, but different from ‘recently used toilet’ smell. This cycle has repeated each year: cold...
