Basically after fitting new pvc piping to old 22mm copper there seems to be little/no flow from the hot water tap after reconnection and it appears to be brownish water for first second or so?

New to the forum so HELLO :)

Detail:
For plumbing new bathroom I needed an extra T for hot and cold water to feed the new shower.
Old pipework was replaced with new with only the extra 2 t pieces for the shower.

On reapplying reapplying the mains water from the stopcock, the hot water pipe hissed and sounded like bubbles passing, at that point I noticed never completely tightened one of the fittings so off with the water again. Once that was tightened, then back on with the water but there is now no pressure from the hot water tap? Also the burner does not come on as it should/would as if there was demand i.e.turning the hot water tap. Also the pressure seems to build after a minute or so to a normalish amount but after the initial blast then there's little flow?

What seems weird is that after running the HW tap for 30m ins there was no hot water but after the CH was on then the slow trickle trickle of water becomes hot?.? Could be coincidence due to the low flow and the large distance between kitchen tap and boiler. Don't think it should matter but kitchen tap Is a mixer and I've and I've no other direct HE taps at the moment incasein case it in case it just in case it just wasn't seeing full demand if you get what if Mean?

Hopefully it's a simple cure and hope someone out there has some ideas? Everything's pretty much like for like so hope the boiler isn't screwed after the air is in the system

Thanksin advance and sorry if it's it's a total Newby question :)

Hi Steve thanks for quick reply.

There are no non return or service valves present, only the extra tee piece and straight connector differ from the original pipe work.

It's almost as if the boiler isn't getting a demand for the flow of hot water.

I'll pull one of the capped ends closer to the boiler and see if this solves it and point the finger to the pipework.

R.e the brown water, is this normal after disrupting pipework?

Thanks again

Did you adjust or move any if the isolating valves on the boiler? Is your cold water pressure as it was before you shut off the stopcock?

No change in cold water pressure. Stopcock fully open minus a 1/4 turn as always.

Nothing has changed with the boiler just the pipework for the new shower has been altered.

No error messages on boiler either.

There was a bit of a air in the system that seemed to clear and the flow increase but it is merely a trickle. If off for a second or so the hot water comes out at what seems to be normal pressure/flow then reverts back to the trickle?

Is it possible that there's a filter within the boiler that's clogged the CW input therefore reducing output on the HW output?

Did you use any pipe inserts in the new plastic pipe work? I would be stripping the new fittings down and checking the insert hasn't come loose and caused a blockage in the fitting

Thanks Tony, ill give the fittings a look over in the morning though They all seemed butted up to the fittings when they were done. Cheers for the suggestion and ill let you know if it works.

Hi,

Is the tap a monobloc type mixer or single H&C taps & does the shower mixer work correctly?

Also as mentioned have you fitted any non return/check valves on the supply pipelines. If not it would be worth fitting them inline for the shower as you may have cross-feed between the H&C supplies.

Generally they are integral in quality shower mixers which prevents cross-feed but cheaper showers may not have them or they may not have been fitted during installation.

As mentioned above there may be something that has come loose or is restricting flow through the joints.

A fair bit to check but be methodical about it and it you will find the issue,

Thanks,

Andy

If you have poor water flow to all your hot taps then this would indicate to me a blockage somewhere within the pipework.

About the browny water, yes, it's pretty common upon start up but shouldn't last for ages.

check any flex haven't got a twist in it and causing a blockage.

Could it it be possible that the connectors are restricting flow due to they're close proximity to one another? As I said, all I have replaced is a 12" piece of copper 22mm with a straight connector and a tee piece.

Still think it could be from the boiler side. Could there be a filter blockage to the boiler? Is this easy to check? Just as the pressure/flow seems normal at first then slows?

Thanks for the info/suggestions and I'll methodically work through it.

Cheers
