from what i hear on the radio today, if your gonna be buying new stuff that connects to internet - do it now.
apparently the 4.5 billion ip addresses are nearly all gone, so by the end of the year it will be internet domesday - nice.
im sure martin will shed some light.

WOT, EH!!!!!!!!!!

fist i've heard about it shaun, i dont really pay much attention these days to whats going off, too much else to do.
however, i think there will more likely be a queing system restricting free ip access tho.

How you getting on with the mac puddle? Its a great bit of kit aint it? You can now spend all your computer time using the computer for what youve bought it for rather than de-fragging, and messing about with all the rubbish that a windoze pc requires.
Anyway, i actually prefer firefox on my macbook, but safari has its advantages with the 'private browsing' feature.

I am loving my imac at the moment, still do all my book work on my windows pc,have windows 7 on there,a big improvement on xp,but found a lot of the improvements have been nicked from the mac system,Still getting use to it but the more I explore, the more I like, had a wired mouse but spoiled myself to the new touch sensitive wireless mouse the other day,the control is great..tested it out on spaceman Bob's Great Escape in the arcades !!
Might give fire fox a go but really pleased with safari, love the way the all the recent web pages are displayed, remembering them, making even faster
Believe it or not did not know about the 'private browsing' feature, honest :)

Was going to get a black berry next month, when me up grades due,but may go for the i phone and start hitting the apps, dragging me self into the 21st century....slowly :)..wish I had switched years ago

The thing with the mac is just try and forget everything you learnt on a windoze machine and start from scratch, it soon dawns on you how simple and straight forward computing should be. Also no virus's.
I use 'pages' and 'numbers' software for my book work (same again its so much easier than excel and word). Give it try, email an excel sheet to your mac, open it with 'numbers' and have a play.
Every mac convert wishes they had switched years ago.

I've been using a mac lap top for a year and its true what they say.....

"once you've had mac, you never go back"

Internet Explorer

To be honest I didnt think it made much of a difference in changing your browser in regards to speed I though that was all to do with your connection speed

I am old school and likely not to change to be honest, I have no problems with IE but saying that I may just try another browsers when I feel like a change

Only takes a few minutes to download a different browser Tom,does not affect your internet explorer at all,can still use when you want
To try other browser just download the software, when downloaded, its symbol will appear on your desktop, click on it instead to connect to the web, and you will be directed to their home page and go from there,it may come up such and such is not your default browser,do you what to change,if that happens just press no,even if you press yes it does not matter as all that will happen when you next go to internet explorer, is it will give same option
Anyway would recommend trying others, many are faster, even a same internet speed and you will find features ect, kick Internet explorers bum most of the time, once you have tried a different browser from internet explorer, probably will not go back
:):)

imho

I must admit I`m with tom being used to the normal IE with no reason to change but I finnished early today and tried that Firefox,it does seem to load quicker

"once you've had mac, you never go back"[/QUOTE]

It's true. that's what they say

Puddle, now your using mac hopefully it will help you with your spelling of 'siTuation' (not siDuation) and CongraTulation (not congraDulation). Sorry, i also hate the grammar police........

Sorry Mark, just like to congratulate you, for bringing the situation to my attention, will try harder :);)

have used tirefox for a few years now when it was much faster than ie but im told chrome is the best now
tip for older readers
pressing ctrl+ will enlarge the window your viewing and remember the setting everytime you return to the site ctrl-to reduce it again
using + and - on the numbers pad
i only found this a few months ago

never used anything except internet explorer

That was me a year or so ago, does the job,but would say, give others a go,you will be pleasantly surprised by the improved experience
Must admit explorer 8 ,is a improvement but they have only used ideas other browsers have had for years
Explorer I have found is a follower ,not a leader
In fact ,after using microsoft for years and not thinking about it,find a lot of other software is more enjoyable to use and in tune with my requirements, same as anti virus, you get the two big boys but in fact when you look around ,there are far better options

imho

I prefer FIREFOX

I have to check our websites run in EXPLORER

And I sometimes use CHROME

Our videos load and work in Firefox and Chrome so I had to insert some code which says "if you are on website *********.com AND you are using Internet Explorer THEN do not play website video INSTEAD load it from Youtube" Whew

so 40% of visitors to *********.com actually see a poor version of the video from Youtube because IE refused to load it from our server. Grrrr.

Anyway FIREFOX is my browser !
