Hi All,
I need a bit of advice please.
My builder has just plumbed in new radiators into my house. However, in the new plumbing he has put in instaed of the radiator pipes coming from the floor he has made them come throgh the skirting board so the radiatos appear to look like they float or are fixed to the wall. He said this would give a nicer finish. However, in plumbing my radiators in like this the pipes comimg out of the skirting have large holes around them and I wondered if there was anything I could use to fill them with to cover them up.

I only want them cover up as I had a problem with mice a few moths ago coming through the gaps of the radiator pipes in the floor and I just don't want this repeated. He said he would fill the holes around the pipe with mastick, is this right thing to do? is there anything else that could go around the pipes to fill the gaps, that wuld give a nicer finish.

My skirting is pine painted over in white.

Any advice is welcome please

Pipes should not come through skirting if coming out of wall should be above ghe skirting
Could you post a pic up please

Hopefully you mean you have tidy slightly bigger holes drilled in the skirting than the pipe coming through, get your self a tube of painters mate to fill found ,then get a damp sponge to smooth over

imho

If the gaps are small, decorators caulking, for larger gaps, polyfilla

Hi All,
thanks for the replies so far, I am just posting up a picture as requested. I have also read somethng online about expansion gap is it still ok to use the filler as has been suggested?? HOLE IN SKIRTING.jpg

Thanks is the pic clear enough?

Don't look to bad should of been a bit higher so didn't touch skirting
But as said decorators caulking will do the job

If it was my job I'd pop silicone in there as it's flexible and will cope with the slight expansion and contraction without cracking.

Shame, another inch higher and the job would've been spot on. I try to find out what size skirting is being fitted before setting the pipe height.

You can buy these from loads of places....including screwfix. Stick it with a bit of silicon or painters mate.

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...
