Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone could help please.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of the instructions for a UP1L British Gas programmer?

I am having problems with getting the heating to run on constant. The heating kicks in fine on the timed program but when I try to set it to run on constant the boiler comes on but no heat to the rads.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

stick on a picture as Most off wont have a clue what the bg no is but will recognise the programmer.

two two ports have you checked that the wiring is correct as you may have the dhw and the htg the wrong way round check the vales
 
Would have thought it was wired correctly if the heating comes on when it is supposed to during its timed programme, no? Unless maybe the timed programme is set to come on water and heat at the same time.

I did check to see if there was heat on the primaries to the cylinder coil and they weren't particularly hot after I had set the heating to constant as I had the same thought as you.

To be honest I couldn't find where the pump and the valves where located. Boiler was a potterton floor standing boiler in conservatory, cylinder in upstairs bedroom cupboard, programmer in under stairs cupboard but no sign of pump and valves. Could they be in the loft with the tanks?
 
Therer do take a long time to heat up as it use the water expastion to work cheack for air locks if its wired right
 
the vale can be in the loft but its only a two port vale for the hot water
 
If it is a gravity hw pumped heating there are no motorised valves. Just a pump.
The programmer is the same as the Boss Therm ones.

If you pump fails to start when the programmer is set to constant first of all open the heating wiring junction box and check you are getting a live feed from the programmer to the pump. If not the programmer is faulty.

I took apart the boxing next to the boiler thinking that no one would box anything in that would need to be accessed and Lo and behold there was the pump and no motorized valves.
So this must be what you described. The only way I can get the heating to work is by also putting on the hot water. With this type of system can you not run the heating without the hot water?
How does this type of system work?

No. The hot water can work independant but the ch needs the water on.
To change it you would have to fit a motorised valve to the hw side and a cylinder stat and wire it as a C plan.

Atm your hot water temp is controlled by the boiler stat.
