Hi all,

Been asked to quote for boiler replacement and went outside and saw this:

The customer wants an Alpha etec 20s, even with the plume kit its not gonna meet regs. Looking for suggestions without having to move boiler location - is it possible??. Thoughts much appreciated....

Vaillant with an elbow and extension externally with sealed collars and the horizontal terminal on the end? (Make sure it is supported correctly) I wouldn’t do it like that and would tell them it needs moving elsewhere. But have seen it done like that and Vaillant say that it is ok as long as collars are sealed correctly.

Thanks for advice guys much appreciated, I thought as much too! Nightmare to move boiler with pipework under tiled and laminated floors and not much space to relocate elsewhere. Customer adamant about having an Alpha, though suspect they may keen for a Vaillant as suggested when extent of work realised! I wouldn't be keen on the Vaillant flue run either!

Just had a thought, but with 90 degree bend with horizontal extension and terminal it would need to clear rear wall of house I assume. That's a further 4/5 metres behind me from where I took the pic!

Ah, ok. Like a plume kit, but instead x2 standard flue 90 bends and then a short telescopic? Never seen that before. Would need 90 bend out of wall with a 45 bend to miss the waste pipe above, then a short extension then another 90 bend pointing outwards with standard terminal on the end. Jeeez, that's gonna look nice :), wont look out of place next to that soil pipe though :D

Looks complete garbage and I wouldn’t do it. But as I said Vaillant allow it.

The roof is a bit of an issue, I was thinking a 8x4 sheet of 18mm ply spanning it. Nice easy boiler swap this one!! All ok now though, passed on to a mate :D Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.
