Yes I'm basically using it as a programmer to turn the heating on/off at the moment. I was simply looking for feedback on other peoples experiences of using them and how but I will look to the smart stats forum. Thanks
I understand how you're supposed to use the thermostat but I'm wondering if anyone does use them that way. It's probably more a question of if fuel cost nothing and we weren't concerned for environment we'd use the thermostat as intended. But as it is if I set the set point to 18C, it will take...
Hi all,
I keep reading about how you should use a smart thermostat. Set it to the temp to want the home to be and hey presto it takes care of itself. But realistically who does this or rather who does this work for.
With mine I just use it to turn the heating on now and then for short periods...
Sorry one last related question on this. We've been given option to either just replace the boiler and gas supply pipe to it or do a full replumb of the central heating and new rads. We're on 8mm mircobore now. I don't have any experience of either and wondering to what extent the house can be...
They are providing the new boiler in either case. I suspect one basically doesn't want the hassle of pulling up floors when there is a much easier option so he's saying under floor would be double price to put us off is my feeling, I realise it would add time but there is a route already there...
I dont want to get into the specific numbers really. I was more intereated in whether one method is better than the other. I assume for any maintenance running pipes externally is better for the plumber but then it weathers more than being under floor and is more unsightly, I guess those are the...
Hi all,
Does anyone have any feedback as to which is best. Running the pipe from the outdoor gas meter to a new boiler on an outside wall or run the pipe under the floor (suspended timber) which is our existing setup and the new boiler is being sited in same location as old. I ask just in...
It doesn't have a thermostat and the cylinder heats if the heating is on there is no separation so it's a bit of a mess. And apparently it has 10mm input pipe and been told it's just not been done correctly so it either goes completely in case of combi or swap for new sealed. Another caveat is...
Ok thanks, so sounds like best of both worlds in terms of operation but perhaps more complex and costly as would need new combi boiler and sealed cylinder. Although I don't like electric showers, wonder if having one electric isn't bad idea though in case boiler goes down.
The central heating seems to work fine, not gone through a winter with it yet but rads get hot and reasonable even temp top/bottom on most, pipes are microbore. Hot water from the vented cylinder is main issue or lack of it, doesn't get hot enough. Also have large cold water tank in attic...
