Gluing Solvent ABS With Solvent PVC Pressure?

Can 40mm solvent ABS (e.g. Floplast) be glued into a 40mm pressure solvent PVC (unknown manufacturer) pipe fitting? They're both solvent based, the Floplast solvent cement says it can glue both ABS and PVC, but can they be glued together?

Heating Drain Cock Below Boiler - Any Issues?

I've always understood this to be a bad idea due to heat loss and the possibility of freezing? Also, are you recommending a drain cock on both the Flow AND Return? Any reason for this as opposed to only fitting to one of the pipes?

Heating Drain Cock Below Boiler - Any Issues?

Are there any potential issues with fitting a drain cock on the flow or return legs of the heating pipes just below the boiler (near floor level/below the height of any rad)? Being so close to the boiler, is there potential for the 'o' ring to break down (i.e. for the same reason why we don't...

Jointing Compound On 15mm Plastic To Brass Compression Fitting?

This is true. But the reality isn't always up to the design :). But I guess we can debate this subject all day. I was more interested in for those of us who use a compound on copper, whether it should also be used on plastic ;).

Jointing Compound On 15mm Plastic To Brass Compression Fitting?

Thanks chaps. What's your reasoning for not using any form of jointing compound on plastic? Does it degrade the plastic?

Jointing Compound On 15mm Plastic To Brass Compression Fitting?

I'm a fan of jet lube (or the much hated - boss green) on all copper pipe to brass compression fittings. However, should jointing compound be used around a copper olive on plastic (i.e. speedfit) to brass compression fittings (e.g. plastic running into concealed shower valves, wall elbows, etc)...

Vokera Linea Max Heating Turning On

What could the possible causes be of the heating turning on at random moments and for various amount of time on a Vokera Linea Max combi? For instance, the digital programmer was set to 'override On' for the evening, then to 'override Off' at night, and the heating came back on all night...

Spurring Heating And Hot Water To Outbuilding

I shall take a look at how practical some boxing will be. Otherwise a trench with plenty of kingspan lagging in a box may be a more cost effective option. Does anyone have a pricelist for the Uponor stuff and who stocks it?

In the South East, I haven't measured the precise distance as of yet though. I take it you're in Devon?

Spurring Heating And Hot Water To Outbuilding

Thanks chaps, will take a look at Uponor's offering. Are there any other manufacturers which have similar products (as a price comparison exercise)?

Spurring Heating And Hot Water To Outbuilding

What options have we got to spur hot/cold water and central heating from a main house combi system, approx 2 metres across a garden and into an outbuilding which will house a new habitable room and bathroom? Are there any products on the market which would provide sufficient insulation to the...

Vokera Linea Max - Hot Water Not Very Hot

Best to replace the diverter valve and clean the heat exchanger? Or replace both? What would reducing the incoming mains flow achieve?

Vokera Linea Max - Hot Water Not Very Hot

Looking for advice in regards to a Vokera Linea Max combi which has recently developed a fault whereby the hot water intermittently isn't always very hot. Every now and again, a bath of water or shower runs lukewarm or when turning a hot water tap on, it takes longer than usual for hot water to...
