    Gorgeous and pricey but...

Would it help if one cut the handle down with an angle grinder? I've done this before with other tools that were too large.

Where to get repairs to pipe freezer compressor done?

I have a Freeze Master EZEFREEZE electric pipe freezer that's stopped freezing. Sounds normal when on, but does nowt. I understand that Freeze Master have a collect and repair service, but I'm nervous about essentially writing them a blank cheque. Does anyone have any thoughts as to how I can...

    Mysterious Toilet Blockage

Hi there, I have a commercial customer who asked me a few months ago to investigate a toilet that kept blocking. They'd just had the blockage professionally pressure washed out, but wanted me to see what I could do to avoid it happening again. On inspection, I found that the soil pipe leading...

What can cause intermittent flow on hot tap?

What do you mean by 'normal tap valve'? There are a few types, some old and some contemporary. The type of tap you have in the picture most likely takes these, although it's possible that they won't fit. https://www.toolstation.com/made4trade-threaded-tap-glands/p55418 When I go to fix a tap...

What can cause intermittent flow on hot tap?

The tap likely needs a new gland. I'd suggest that you go for the full turn operation ones, as the cheap quarter turn ceramic disc cartridges don't last. They cost around £5 for a pair from screwfix. There are plenty of videos on youtube which will tell you how to do the job. It requires visual...

Installing smart TRVs on ALL radiators with use of a bypass valve

To clarify, I'm not using a room thermostat. I get that that's probably beside the point though.

Installing smart TRVs on ALL radiators with use of a bypass valve

Here you go. It's on the end of those flexis. I cobbled it together to see if it'd work. I promise you I'm a better plumber in other people's houses! 😅

Installing smart TRVs on ALL radiators with use of a bypass valve

Yes, fully tightened to 0.5 bar. Perhaps I should replace it with a decent branded one?

Anybody have experience with the Bosch 18v 10 litre wet vac.

I checked out the specs and decided against it. No use for removing blockages with its meagre sucking pressure compared to a plug in. Still, that might not be what you're after. Maybe it's great for an 18v.

    Best chemical sink unblocker?

The stuff you get in the shops is pretty dilute, and hence fairly safe. Buy them a pair of cheap goggles while you're at it. Anything with sodium hydroxide in the ingredients is good. Sodium hypochlorite is a bonus. I'm a rare oddity in being both a plumber and a chemistry graduate! Plungers...

Installing smart TRVs on ALL radiators with use of a bypass valve

Hi there, I recently bought a bunch of Drayton Wiser Smart TRV heads. I wanted to install them on all of my radiators so that I have full control of which radiators are on. However, it specifies in the instructions that one of the radiators should be left with 2 x open lockshield valves. Now...

Gas Training for NVQ2 Qualified Plumber (Currently Self-Employed)

Stunning offer Scott! I've messaged you. That's good to hear Jon. I'm in no rush. I mostly just love to learn! So I guess that technically I have to do the theory part before I start building a portfolio?
