    Shortest concealed cistern available?

800 furniture frames are the lowest you can get. Even with a separate cistern you will still find that you can’t go lower. if you do, you will only be lowering the toilet pan, which won’t work. the only other solution if you can’t increase height is to locate the cistern elsewhere and pipe the...

    Going self employed from BG

after taking costs like van, public liability, fuel, holiday pension pay, your own gas safe etc. You will need to make about £50k profit a year to earn that. take your odd jobs for mates and BG looks a decent place to stay. Even if it’s not as good as it was.

    UFH auto balance valves

We used auto balancing heads on an underfloor A few weeks ago. They seemed To work well. you leave the flow restrictors fully open. The heads have a clip on pipe stat on the flow and return. hot water secondary return check valves

Use a swing check valve, or a very lightly sprung non return. swing are best, as they won’t restrict the pump. But they will need fitting the correct orientation so the check valve falls to shut.

    Failed motorized valves

you say you are replacing the head. But the problem will lie in the valve itself. The mechanism will be very stiff and this causes the motor to struggle to reach the end switch. Eventually burning the motor out. you need to replace the entire valve, I would recommend a Honeywell as they work on...

Details on fitting a remote oil delivery pipe.

Not done a remote fill for 15 years . but the last one we did was in 2inch fusion weld Plastic For undeground It came in straight lengths. For above we used 2 inch black iron. ( threaded) it needs a gate valve, brass cap and non return at the fill end. I can’t remember how we stopped it from...
