How to properly disconnect a gas fire

Hi, Yes, I'm in Slough, Berkshire. The floor is concrete and I want the supply to be capped off above ground (the restrictor elbow is situated in an alcove of the York stone fire place surround). I am wondering whether - even though I want it capped off above ground - there might still have...

How to properly disconnect a gas fire

I thought the estimate was a bit steep, so thanks everyone for the price indications/advice. Please rest assured that I have absolutely no intention of doing the work myself. I don't want to blow up my house or break the law or invalidate my house insurance. I just wanted to make sure that I...

How to properly disconnect a gas fire

Hi, I need the gas supply to my gas fire capped as I want to remove my gas fire. I attach a photo of the elbow restrictor, which has a shut off valve underneath it. I have been given a 'provisional estimate' of £150 for the job by one gas safe engineer (which makes me think that he doesn't...

Can I fit more than one mini Water Hammer Arrestor?

Hi, Thanks for replying. I'm not a plumber - so I don't have a weir gauge - but I have worked out the flow and it's just over 13 litres a minute, which I believe is acceptable.

Can I fit more than one mini Water Hammer Arrestor?

Hi, what size of vessel would you suggest and could it be located in the same position as the existing mini arrestor? Thanks.

Can I fit more than one mini Water Hammer Arrestor?

I'd be grateful for any advice re the following: Background I have a mini water hammer arrestor on the cold feed into my combi boiler, which is situated in the airing cupboard on my house's landing next to the bathroom. Please see the photo. The arrestor was fitted when my old gravity...

Am I Re-Pressurising Boiler in the right way?

How could we show that we don't need a power flush? Would getting a report from Fernox help prove it? Or are BG likely to take no notice of that and discontinue our cover anyway if we were to challenge their recommendation and not have a power flush?

Am I Re-Pressurising Boiler in the right way?

Thanks, we'll get BG back. Can I ask why they would tell us to have a power flush in order to continue to provide cover and what would be wrong with consenting to this? - Would it be a question of this being unnecessary and them just trying to make more money out of us and/or trying to avoid...

Am I Re-Pressurising Boiler in the right way?

Our BG contract is for a year (paid in advance) and we have to pay £50 excess every time we call them out (unless we can prove that they didn't solve the original problem or their engineer, by removing and inspecting the PRV, caused the PRV to malfunction; also, he hit something with a hammer...

Am I Re-Pressurising Boiler in the right way?

I don't think any water came out of the expansion vessel when he tested it; I was watching him and didn't see any. Regarding your advice re getting the PRV replaced - we're under a BG service agreement, so if we phone and get one of their engineers to come out and tell them that the first...
