Hi

Looking for some advice. Once a week I have to turn off the water supply and clean the inlet of the hot water on my shower. It is a pressurised heating system and no other hot water appliance is blocking only the shower.

I have attached some pictures. Is this a shower problem or do I need to flush out the hot water system.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys and sorry for not responding quicker. We have a large megaflow water tank with a smaller tank above. This is a pressurised system with a boiler outside heating both central heating and hot water.

In Lanarkshire so it is a soft water area and the house is only 11 years old.

It could be the dissolved sacrificial anode. Maybe take shower off, attach a hose and temporary valve, then flush pipes out.
You may also want to want to replace the Emersion heater including new anode.

The red expanssion vessel is wrong , its only meant for heating , that cylinder doesnt need a expansion vessel . Get a local qualified G 3 engineer in to look at it . It doesnt have a anode.
However I have no idea what the gunge is but I would do the above with a full flush out (inc cylinder ) and go from there

Looks like a standard robokit for the heating, if you look closely the filling loop is attached so it is correct (with the exception of the attached filling loop)

The unvented cylinder should be serviced annually so get a G3 qualified engineer in to take a look for you and they will check the strainers and be able to give you a better idea on what's going on.

Yep appologies you are correct (not to self ,stop using phone to look at pics lol )

Megaflo plastic baffle dissolves in soft water area's , major problem in Scotland and Cornwall and anyone with water softener fitted, should be covered by 25 year warranty, but Megaflo won't admit it, so you will need to stand your ground and fight them
