Bought the above so I could propel myself to the 21st Century... Should have done some research first!

Trying to access the Gas Safe website, not a problem until I try and view technical subscriptions page, I get to view the front cover and that's it, so took it to the apple shop to see what they can do. They gave it there best shot and unfortunately Gas safes website wont allow this type of tablet to do this.

I have phoned Gas Safe and there technical dept will call us back

Oh! I'm glad you posted this mate, I'm about to buy one for work use. have you tried downloading the TBs and saving them locally? Does that work?

I can view the TBs on my iPad. It's the standards subscription that is the problem, the front page comes up but no scroll bar to view the whole thing.

Masood go for the ipad 2. Cheaper and more duable than the air!!!!!!

Definitely cheaper, and I'm not worried about the lightness of the air, but it's a LOT faster processor and longer battery life. How long does your ipad 2 battery last in day to day use? I've seen what they claim in the blurb but real life never quite matches the times they quote!

Ah right, misunderstood. GSR state that you aren't allowed to download the standards and keep local copies. It can be done though... :)

The faster processer is a bonus for playing games and such, unless you're doing graphic art then for work the ipad 2 is fine :)

i think i get about 5 hours heavy usage out of it.
watching videos, ebay, this forum or games.

if youre using it for work then just get an in car charger :)
realisticly you wont be using it constantly :)

iPads don't support flash for that reason once mine dies I'll switch to an android device. Mine also attempts to sabotage every post I make!!!!!!

iPads don't support Flash because it is inherently unstable, requires constant updating, and isn't secure enough to meet Apple's demanding quality criteria.
I use an iPad all the time that I'm away from the computer, which is an iMac 27" thing, and I have to say that I haven't had a problem with not it not supporting Flash. You should also bear in mind that Flash is an 'outgoing' technology and won't be around that much longer, if my sources are correct :)

I thought it was a control thing with apple. After all if flash was working then why pay for apps when they can made for free on websites. I just jailbroke my ipad to enable to do what i want with it not want apple wants. I have to say I'm very impressed with the options it's opened up to me.

Adobe posted they were dropping flash for all mobile devices (android, iOS, blackberry) at the end of 2011. They will patch security updates but as a product it is finished, the developer says it is no longer has a place in the mobile market due to modern browsers supporting HTML5.

No excuse for GasSafe site not working correctly. Bad development on GasSafe's part.

The trouble with 'Jailbreaking' is that it not only opens up the possibilities, which are hugely beneficial I must admit, but it also opens up the 'Backdoor' for nasty little oiks to spread their malice and ruin your iPad experience for you. Still, Each to their own eh :)
