Beko : Cooker Safety Notice

anyone with the above cookers need to contact the manufacturer immediately and stop using the cooker,8 people have already been killed the latest 2 in Cornwall this was in the sun paper 8/12/12

I don't know if I read the article wrongly but I got the impression that the grill produces CO when being used with the grill door closed.
I am just wondering why anyone would use the grill like that!

Read that in yesterday's paper, they've only managed to contact two thirds of the 21,000 people who bought one. Frightening to think there's still 7,000 of them out there with a problem.

thanks for the heads up i know someone who has just bought one,

G rill produces CO when being used with the grill door closed.

Had similar thoughts with an Indesit -- Does it tell you not to in manual

and does anyone RTFM (read it )

( Many get bad habits from cooking electric )

we all know people wont read the mi,s but if you warn them it may kill them we can only hope common sense kicks in,at the end of the day if you fit/fitted any or come across any then kick it in for a mod to the grill door IMHO it should be a standard safety feature close the grill door and the grill wont work

My electric oven (aeg) tells in the instructions to close the door whilst using the grill. I never do that but maybe people have been confused by using previous ovens that told them to do it.

So it affects flavel, leisure and beko? I take it those models only as mentioned in the link on the first post?

Shocking story. The manufacturers should be shamed for the way they have handled this. Its been going on for at least 4 years. To do with oven/grill door seals and poor design. Thats what you get with trying to make things cheaper to produce. You would think that the manfacturer would be more proactive in tracking down where all these cookers are.

Another one to note is the gloworm sxi/cxi range that came out with rubber/silicone burner seals. tech warnings went out fm gsr register, but I still come across these on new services where no one has upgraded the seal to graphite types! so they suck back their leaking pocs and soot up the hex, only problem being this one was serviced prior to the new owners buying the flat, and I found this as I couldnt get the fga readings down enough to pass so I had a look inside to see why!
