Grateful if someone could help with this (probably very basic) problem. I have two of my radiators turned to 'off' yet when the heating is on, they both pump out heat full blast. Other radiators in the house stay off when turned to this setting- any ideas why this might be happening?

Thanks

Sorry, not sure what trvs is? I'm using the valve on the side of the radiator.

trv=thermostatic radiator valve (big white lump on rad valve). are you turning feed or return off? sounds like valve is not turned off enough and still letting by.

Yes, I am using the trv- on both radiators, they're turned as far as possible (tightly too) onto the 'off' position. I have other radiators in the house on this position and they remain off.

sounds like the head of the valve is bust, to test take the head of, is there any resistance and movement on the rod inside when turned. easy test swap for one of the trv heads that you know works.

you shouldnt realy be turning of rads using the trvs your room stat is the thing to use

Just wondered if you ever got to the root of the problem on this one? I have the exact same problem on two radiators in my house now and not sure what to do

As mentioned previously either rod is Jamed or washer is warned out and it still lets by even though you turned off or room thermostat isn't settled

Why not? This is what they are for.

leaving trvs shut down is what causes them to stick ive found ideally they should be set for comfort and left alone turning the stat down or switching of at programmer is the best way to stop system when not in use
obviously in this case they need replacing
