The gas meter is outside the house on the side wall, we want a gas stove at the opposite end of the house so our plumber will run a new supply from the gas meter area along the front wall of the house to the opposite end, it will need to be buried. What depth should it be as we could dig the trench in advance? Also if we were to build a porch what protection would be needed for the gas pipe?
Thanks

The contractor you hire will not be a plumber...you will engage a GSR contractor as you are obliged to ...the engineer will carry out all the protocols as required by law and complete the contract and sign it off, then you pay...Centralheatking

I am sure that If you build a porch over the gas pipe and your gas engineer knows it is there, it becomes AT Risk. But AT RISK where turning off doesn’t remove the risk.

And as above your gas engineer will advise. It’s not just a case of digging a hole and flinging it in. A proper survey needs to be conducted of the proposed run end to end and an assessment made of potential traffic, future works etc not being awkward but we cant see the site. Thread closed

Hi everyone, I’m just DIYing a bathroom refurb and came across this blanked off pipe in the wall that protrudes out about 2cm. The previous owners tiled round it and left it exposed which makes me think that it was left in situ on purpose. We don’t actually use gas in the house and don’t have a...
