Most manufacturers seem quite good at providing information on their systems but it’s a bit of a pain having to get an internet connection every time you want to access a manual.

Do any manufacturers allow you to bulk download big chunks of their manuals to save to your laptop/iPad?

Alternatively does anyone sell a DVD/memory stick with this sort of info?

I purchased a compact disc years ago when I set up the company from a seller on E-Bay. Loaded it on to my laptop and tablet and happy days I had just about every bit of literature at my fingertips I could possibly ever need, I have also just downloaded & added the latest models to the database as and when they are made and come on to the market. Can not remember who the seller was but I would say they still do them on Ebay probably on a memory stick now or even a straight download to your compatible device.

Some do. What kind of information are you looking for?

Is it just Manuals for installation?

Pretty much what Darren has said, I have a massive stash of manuals for weird and wonderful industrial stuff and find them invaluable. Ive accumulated over years by pinching from other peoples collections and downloading as required.

I'll have a look on fleabay.

I guess, installation/service/wiring diagrams/parts lists for heating appliances and ancillary components (pumps, valves, programmers etc)

I know Vaillant provide Manuals and I think Ideal too (don't quote me on Ideal).
I don't use a laptop at work although I can see how it might be useful.

I've seen all makes seem to provide them but its a bit of a chew downloading one every time you use them.

I'm new to heating/gas but having a laptop full of useful documents has allowed me to fix a lot of problems others haven't been able to over the years. Its normally daft things like passwords to get into service menus of meanings of fault codes.

Oh I see. I get the fault code thing. If they all used the same it would be easier.

In my day job I work with PLC's and control systems on oil rigs/refineries and chemical works. I use a Panasonic ToughBook because they are fairly indestructible and have great battery life. They also have fashioned serial ports that a lot of legacy systems still use.

I'm looking to get into gas/heating to reduce the traveling I do. You could maybe get away with am iPad/tablet to this.

There’s plenty on eBay almost all the same but different prices. Still cheap though so you would only stand to lose a couple of quid if it wasn’t what you wanted.

Thanks, Ive ordered 2 or 3 for less then £10 total. As you say, its only a couple of pints down the drin if it turns out to be garbage.

Why can't I converse with you OFG?

Probably too late , but it may help others , the Anton app provides all the boiler manuals, loads and works a lot better than other boiler manual app type sites I have used .

Again probably late to the table. Offshoregas, is it not possible to download and keep your pdf file? It’s what I used to do until I got my iPad, now I just use the iBooks (very similar to pdf files).

Yeah certainly possible, I'm just trying to cut out hours of searching and needing manuals which I cant access when without a decent internet connection. I've ordered a couple of DVDs from ebay for less than £10 total.

Happy days. I know what you mean about internet connection.

just had chance to have a look at the Ebay boiler CD. Have to say there not bad value for money at £5.

Quite a lot of the information is outdated but it forms a good reference none the less. 100’s of manuals that are worth saving hours downloading.

It comes with an outdated mears calculator, I couldn’t get it to install under windows 7, eventually go it working under Windows XP but then found the results were a lot different to the various manufacturers online versions so possibly using different standards/methods to today.
