Hello everyone,

My boiler has a problem since yesterday: it stays on for a few seconds and shuts off, then on again in about 10 minutes, then off after a few seconds and so on. The room thermostat sends the "switch on" signal fine (obviously, it is rather cold in the house now, so the thermostat is constantly telling the boiler to switch on). I have bled the radiators, there is no air in them. My only guess is faulty pump, and I am thinking to call an engineer on Monday, but I was just wondering if I might not be missing out something obvious. Could there be some air trapped in the boiler, for example, that could be let out? The boiler is a Ferroli Combi 77 FF, a rather old one but has been working faithfully so far. Many thanks for your advice!

best get an gas safe engy round as its a combi

Thanks for your replies. I have just listened up, and I actually think that the pump is working (rather quiet, actually). Still, the return pipe gets warm ever slightly, and the boiler shuts off. Must be one of those many thermostats...

Sounds like the 12 v armature to me runs through the velocoturn valve into the armature , signal dropping through 12 v prob down to 0 .
As it's a ferroli good loom in finding and replacing those parts

Ignite Heat Spares do some Ferroli recon parts eg £55.00 for a recon board gtee as well
Call them Monday 8 am when you know what part is duff.
I use Ignite many times their recon stuff is usually a quarter of new price and better quality
They dispatch same day. I would get GSR to look at pump 1st....Rob Foster aka centralheatking
Oddly enough I am having a pint with the ex senior ferroli design
fella for Europe at Lunchtime today

I understand a lot of Ferroli problems stemmed from inadequate service back up and a silly tie up with BQ which left
them with little back in UK .

No, they’re just shat. How on earth does the reliability stem from poor back up?
