Hey chaps,

I just had a plumber quoting me on indirecr unvented hot water cylinder install. His quote is very competitive and when asked what cylinder the install is for I've been told it's
everflo Stainless 180L System Fit Unvented Hot Water Storage Cylinder (this I'd imagine) Second best quote was Gledhill or Joule.

Having looked at everflo, it seems to be a reasonable cylinder (Duplex stinless steel, C-rated, pre-plumbed, 25 years warranty)

Is this a good cylinder? Has anyone installed or has personal experience with these?

Thanks guys!

Nope never seen an everflo

Is this what it has come to, people quoting based on a system fit ??
What, just to make sure they don't pipe it up wrong? I would be worried by any who suggested using one, as the connections will never be in the correct location to suit your layout. At the price all the valves are going to be tat.

Have you check that they are G3 & that they are going to notify it to Building Control for you? Don't forget as the property owner, it is your responsibility to ensure it is.

Dont like the pre plumbed units. Prefer to pipe myself so cylinder easier to change down the road. Same with any cylinder.

Completely agree with you Simon, I installed one before crimbo and spent just as long as I would piping up a kit form cylinder, as I did the preplumb. It’s pretty god damn hard, trying to attach all the pipework to the preplumb tappings...1.6 m above the ground at the rear, reaching over

Hi Chris,
Thanks for replying.

As I understand having a pre-plumbed unit just makes installer's life easier, saves some time and hassle. Wanted to double check on the quality of the cylinder, as quoted unit as for that price it seemed very reasonable (Duplex stainless steel, C-rated, 25 years warranty)
But I've got my eyes on Joule Cyclone 150 and I'll be asking for him to quote with the cylinder.

I did ask him and he's confirmed that he's G3 qualified and I've seen some of his previous work (pictures anyway) will ask him to notify building control. Does the building control need to be notified prior to or after completion?

A quick google brings up just internet shops selling them and no merchants.

Mmmmmm, i hope Lumen isn’t thinking of installing this himself.

Tut tut

Exactly my thoughts wanted to double check with experienced guys here to see if anyone had any previous experience with these cylinders. I know in case of emergency and after sales support, it will be easier to deal with a known manufacturer rather than with "Papa and Mana shop"

No, wouldn't touch that install with a barge pole, might consider installing a new radiator or replumbing a tap, but not pressurising an entire system.

never heard of them just looked at there site and they only sell through 2 suppliers at the moment so new to the market probably imported from some foreign land and rebadged

The postcode at the bottom of the guarantee registration card for Everflo is an address belonging to Kingspan Cylinders. So it's certainly rebadged but it depends whether you classify Wakefield as a foreign land.

That’s rather interesting. Thank you for the infor!
Question for everyone. Why would Kingspan rebrand and sell their cylinders for 30% less?
