We setup this forum in around 2006 and we have some members with accounts still that were setup in anything from 2008 to 2023. Some with great potential, some mastered the forum and really helped shape it into what ti once was (not the Gas Safe Register and RedSaw and that lot that were abusing...

A mate of mine has bought a bungalow which is a complete strip back and start again job. He wants to get a log burner that he can tie into the hot water/heating, but keep a gas boiler for when the fire isn't on. Is this possible, and if it is what system/set up and controls are needed. This...

I'd love to get clear rather than cloudy ice cubes from my FF, is this possible by adding a filter(s) to the incoming supply? Does anyone know or recommend a filter specialist or some method of achieving this? (FYI - I change the internal filter when my Samsung FF requests.) ATB to you all.

Strange one. Stuart Turner Showermate, supplied by customer, fitted March last year. All was well until August when they contacted me to say there was an issue with it pulsing when the shower is off. I don't believe in coincidence, but at the same time as the issue arose they were having an...

Evening All, I don't know what's happening at the moment but we seem to be getting a lot more customers than usual complaining about bills. We've had three in the last three weeks refusing to pay the full amount. They've all been retired (and new) customers). I'm beginning to think I should have...

Hello all, I recently bought a Tempest 300 L indirect, it measures 1650 H x 480 D. The 300 L is handwritten on the label which concerns me a bit. So I called Telford technical and they advised the insulation is 40 mm, therefore dia. is 400 and the height 1610 (insulation on top only), and...

Just a quick one folks if you don’t mind. Are there any regs around the siting of a vessel? Can they be hung horizontal or upside down if need be? Cheers

I'm going through too many trainers and boots, always the toes that come apart first, I'm on my 4th pair this year and they have lasted at best 4 weeks. I've been taking them back for a refund so I'm still on the same £35.00. I've had all manner of hiking trainers/ normal trainers etc but they...

And what would you say that bit of soil pipe is made of just before the tiled wall? It looks more like lead than iron to me. I did recently have some lead someone had made up as a sort of adaptor between some cast iron soil and the pan connector he used. It was a nightmare to work with. And that...

Never seen them before. I just need to cap them off as they come out the wall... What would I need to do so (properly / safely)? Any idea why the fittings are all different colours too? Thanks

Or does the fact they are tapered mean the flexi might work it's way loose? e.g. https://www.NoLinkingToThis/p/flomasta-sfu-0269-brass-compression-adapting-male-elbow-15mm-x-1-2-/355kr

I don't mean happening to be available when an emergency comes in but actually advertising as an emergency plumber. How does it work? I can envisage something like a £100 call out for turning up within an hour of a call, paid via card machine before entering the property, then work on top at...

Hi all. Any advice for what’s best in this situation please? Blowoff from cylinder comes out where the green circle is but I’m concerned about the windows below if ever it discharges. To the left is a garage felt flat roof so it can’t go on there? Cheers

I've tried to find the answer online but can't. I'm guessing it might be a drain point allowing you to bypass the double check? And if so, do you turn off the valves, open the cap, attach a hose (half inch female flexi stylee?) and then when you open the valve above it you can let off the...

Hi folks. I’ve been asked to remove a toilet within a cafe but the cold feed disappears into the wall. I’m concerned about the dead leg as I can’t see how much pipe is actually there. I’ve checked the regs and it just states it’s advisable to remove completely wherever possible and that’s it...

Went yesterday to look at a potential job. Bigger than I thought as original info was couple of bathrooms need doing, whereas it's 6 bathrooms and 2 downstairs cloaks. Old House, pulled to bits and massively extended. All ground works done, all floors in, no ceilings in, and stud walls boarded...
