Hello all, I'm new on the forum, I'm a gas service and repair engineer rather than a plumber. I used to work for a big company, now self employed. I do some install work too but nothing too big as I work alone and to be honest I'm not quick enough at installation work and not experienced in...
Hi - I'm a DIYer, successfully fitted an external garden tap, supply sourced from downstairs loo, standard 13 mil copper pipework, in-line cut-off.
WEATHER PROBLEM - its works fine for years EXCEPT twice now I've had split pipe due to freezing (at -8C ) despite foam protection.
My thinking -...
Hi Lou,
Recently retired last July, sold my house and moved to Tamworth to be with the wife full time. So not retired as I’m married. Lol.
Served my time in the 70’s as a pipe fitter/welder , also covered heating at college but so much has changed since then. Extensive experience on industrial...
Hello, my name is Salvador. I work in the Metro Detroit area for non-profit agency that provides assistance to residents that are having trouble with their water bills. I am part of a team that goes into the home and figures out why water bills are so high. I am not a plumber by trade, but I...
Thanks for letting me join. I've just set up as a sole trader so will more than likely be back for advice. In fact, where will i find advice on my probationary inspection?
Just wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks for installing a butterfly valve in a plumbing system? And are there any common mistakes that newbies like me should watch out for? Thanks in advance for any help
Hi I want to move the feed to my rads , as the route is too long, this would mean leaving approx 3 m of 22 mm flow and return plpework down beside the chimney breast still inline, and water being fed from 15 mm through 22 mm and back out to 15 mm.would this cause pressure problems or would the...
Hi all,
I've just joined because I'd like to learn more about the plumbing and heating systems in my house and to hopefully get some help and advice with a problem we currently have.
Thanks,
Chris

The oil boiler has a few issues, and that's why I'm here.
See you in the oil boiler forum...
Good day,
I am not a plumber/heating engineer and don't don't tackle plumbing or electrics, having done a bit of both with variable success :). But I am an avid researcher and like to understand how things work and get the best out of them. The Glowworm Combi boiler that was in my small 2 bed...
Hi everyone, just after some advice.
So I have a nest thermostat installed an a Worcester boiler. Now when I had my nest installed, the electrician was absolutely horrendous. Leaving dangling wires and all sorts. It did essentially work though. Now it brings me to this morning. So my wife...
Hi guys I’m new to this forum but have been a guest for several months now. Moved to a ground floor apartment in 2007 which had a Gledhill Sytrmate2000 / Glow Worm Micron 40ff. Both have been fairly reliable until this winter when Thermal store DHW pump packed up & is now Obsolete? Have had...
Just popped in to say "Hi". Found this forum when looking for a solution to our stiff shower bar tap. Have got some ideas which I'll try. Had a new cartridge a few months back but it's a stupid design of tap with very little to grip, and when wet it's almost impossible to move. Well done...
