Hey all
Looking for a consensus on an issue that has arisen.
Disclaimer is that my ideal icos 12 boiler Is over 10 years old but has been serviced. It has been presenting intermittent flame issues in sub zero temperatures however I found that insulating the pipe work around the gas regulator...
I was using a mini excavator in the front garden and cut the mains gas supply (website with gas location had it in the wrong place, but a disclaimer saying their info might be inaccurate - the engineer said it was probably moved when they changed the pipe to the new plastic sort).
1 Cadent...
We are getting a new gas cooker installed on Sunday. The existing one is over 25 years old, as such I'm having to do some prep to make sure it's ok to install (remove wallpaper from the hot zone for one).
In looking behind the existing cooker I have noticed there appears to be a twin and earth...
My first post here, looking for some advice.
I've just had my boiler replaced with a worcester 4000 combi boiler. The engineer put chemical flush and inhibitor in when filling up, ran the raditors hot and then tested using a strip. And has left both in saying this is safe, and standard...
hi G3 qualified but unsure how to join the private forum. Just didn’t want to post in the public forum.
santon 210 indirect with low pressure at the outlets and a banging noise.
Changed the combination valve which sorted the pressure drop issue but the noise persists.
Static pressure is 4.5...
I need to choose a reliable budjet boiler. Ive never installed a veissman before and its been years since i installed a baxi.
I like the specs on both boilers. The amount of plastic and rubber worries me about the veissman but i do still like it, the baxi 624
looks like a lot of boiler for the...
I visited a house that had been converted into two flats. Downstairs flat had a cellar where both ECVs were located for both consumers. The upstairs flat had a meter and a AECV.
My take on the regulation is that the primary ECV should be accessible to the consumer. So in this case the person...
Good evening,
I had a cp12 carried out today on a vaillant combi.
The working pressure at the valve was 12.5mb and the engineer said minimum was 13mb on this boiler. All other test were ok, but he Ar'd it and asked me to turn it off. Is this correct as other test were fine (combustion and gas...
The copper gas pipe to my boiler in the loft runs between joists and sits on the plasterboard. I understand that it should not be covered by insulation. Why? Is it satisfactory to create a dome over the pipe with upside down guttering and then put fibreglass insulation over the top please?
Hi,
I want to add inhibitor into towel radiator for the heating system. I saw from Youtube that people normally open the radiator vent plug from bottom, either left or right (photo 4 and 5). But I saw someone opened from top which looks easier.
Please see the attached photos 2 and 3, should I...
Question for the plumbers turned gas engineers.
Do you still carry out plumbing repairs, bathroom installations, etc. I still do but getting fed up of being stuck on a bathroom job and losing the gas work as I'm fully booked. Been gas safe for around 5 years now.
Took someone on to do the...
Just been to a nightmare of a job!
Had to carry out a service on the 2009 British Gas 330 + (GC: 41-019-11)
It's a Glow Worm boiler.
The boiler was flashing SE even before I arrived, which I assumed the service reminder needed resetting.
After completing the service I contact Glow Worm to...
Evening Guys, Trying to suss out whats needed for a job in a small warehouse unit (Customer wants a combi & 3 rads installed)
The current Gas meter is a BK G10E - Am i right in thinking this is a Commercial meter? if so would it specifically need a commercial boiler?
Thanks for any input.
Apparently my gas safe reg will get assigned to the ltd company (mine)? So I'm left with nothing myself if i ever sell or close down the company?
How does it work with gas engineers working as employee for a company? They will be gas safe registered of course but I've heard that they can't do...
Hi All after some advice. Called out to a boiler with a noise(didn't do it when I first got there), reverberating noise on low rate. It was also due a service, checked and cleaned condensate( and pipe), cleaned heat exchanger,(replaced burner as deflection in the plate), replace spark/flame...
Hi Guys, I am not a gas engineer but would like advice on a job I have been quoted. There is a high level gas heater that has to be taken out of service, around 5mtrs up. There is a chance we will want to re-instate it in a year or two so the unit will stay in situ. The room is used for storage...
Hi all,
My customer is renovating a house. Complete renovation of the plumbing.
It's a three-bed house for a young family of 3. It will have one main bathroom (bath and maybe an over-bath shower), plus two shower ensuites.
I have yet to check the incoming water pressures/flow rates to the...

Moving on I have a wiring conundrum.
