I have an old Modena 80 E combi boiler that is randomly short cycling on windy days. The burner goes out and re-ignites within a few seconds and continues to burn for between five and forty seconds before stopping again. Under normal conditions the boiler works fine but as soon as it gusts over...
Hello
When I choose the the venting function what does it actually do? Do the pump have its own vent hole? Do I need to vent the radiators while it's doing this?
Thanks
Chris
Hello
My pump makes an odd sound... see attached file. Is this normal? Tried venting/bleeding it but no difference. Same sound whether the hot water or CH is on. Changing the pump speed doesn't help.
Thanks
Chris
Hi all,
I'm trying to source a replacement pump for my heating system, I suspect the current pump is an older version that has been superseded, could anyone advise what the latest model would be or an equivelant?

Hello
I need to send a boiler on signal wireless for an UFH system.
This seems like the solution to me Mains Switch - RF Switch for Wireless Control of HVAC pumps controlled by Boilers. - https://mainsswitch.co.uk/
Signal sender gets hooked up to the wiring centre which already has a...
Hi, am getting our bathroom updated and local company suggested ditching our traditional attic CW tank/vented cylinder and pump for the shower and install an unvented pressurised HW cylinder instead. We have been told that this will not lead to a drop in effective pressure from the shower. Is...
Hi all, I was reading about these new microwave boilers that are due to come out from Heatwayv (A new way to transform how we heat our homes | Heat Wayv - https://www.heatwayv.com/), they seem to be a drop-in replacement for your old gas boiler, but with electrickery costing about 5 times as...
I've got an older Vaillant Ecotec combi with a 130 Timeswitch that's broken, can the newer 150 timeswitch be used on it rather than paying over the odds for a 130? I know you can put the pins in a couple of different positions but can't remember if it fits the older ones or not.
Thanks in advance
Hi,
I'm looking for some advice please.
We live in a bungalow with essentially 2 ends. 1 end with 2 bedrooms, hallway & bathroom. The other end lounge, dining room and kitchen. These 3 are seperate rooms but interconnected. There are 7 rads. The combi boiler has a normal 7 day on/off timer and...
Hello -

I have a 40 year old Glowworm Hideaway 100.
I have lived in this house for 8 years and it has been faultless, until recently. The pilot light won't stay on.
The boiler has been worked on by a Gas Engineer, but he is stumped and telling me I need a new boiler. I can not afford a new boiler...
Hi everyone
Some very helpful people on this forum (hi John.g) sorted me out with some issues with a faulty installation of a Grundfos UPS3 back in Oct/Nov 2021.
My CH system has been running like a dream ever since. Until this evening.
For months we have been switching heat and/or water...
Hi,
I installed Sime Brava One 30 BF on my 150 Sqare meters home. I also installed an external water pump at the hot water outlet to help the internal pump to push the water 4 floors up (I installed it instead of an old diesel boiler, so I had to use the old infrastructure).
I set the heating...
I reckon if I did a survey of 100 heating engineers, asking what would they recommend for heating a granny annexe being built onto the side of my house, in place of the garage, most would give me a suggestion to put in a) an extension to the existing boiler rad circuit & electric water heaters...
Three years ago I decided to switch from an under floor gas warm air system to a modern radiator system. I had installed a Worcester Bosch 38CDI Classic Combi feeding eleven radiators of varying sizes. I live in a fairly large bungalow and whilst the heating side is acceptable I am very...
Hi
I have had a smart system installed to control my boiler. This consists of a control unit attached to the boiler, Smart TRV's on all radiators except the living room which has a smart room thermostat (manual valve on living room rad).
My question is, why must I have a manual valve on the...
Evening everyone, I’ve got this lovely little bungalow that I’m struggling to get my head around the heating on. It’s a F and E system with 8 radiators, and I’m not really very clued up on central heating, or even plumbing in general, but the whole set up seems quite odd.
The pipe into the main...
Water is flowing through my central heating expansion pipe even when cold with the pump running. Hot water flows through it when the system is heated. Pump has been replaced but still happens
Apologies in advance for the long explanation..
This morning, my boiler's pressure had dropped to 2 PSI, so I added water until it was sitting at 12 PSI (which it should be at). I checked on it again around 9 pm and it was sitting at 35 PSI!!! The relief valve had not blown. I drained a bunch...
