the radiator can fill from either side or both. or air can get moved around and cause a problem. unless it has a one direction valve fitted the wrong way around then it shouldn't matter which way round is flow or return.

welcome to the forum. sounds like an airlock or the valves are closed to tight. try closing some of the other radiators to see if that clears any air lock, if you have trv's that is the easiest option to close some of them. if the problem radiator then works open the valves again, if it then gets cold it is a balancing issue.

if the hot water cylinder is just providing water to the one shower and not connected to the rest of the hot water pipework then there is no complication. or as suggested you could have a hot water cylinder for most of your hot water needs, being heated by the surplus electricity and additionally by the boiler as needed. as you have a combi you would need one tap connected directly, it would all depend on how much power you would be getting to heat the cylinder and location of the boiler, cylinder in relation to the draw off points. an unvented cylinder works of the mains water, so has a greater working pressure than a traditional gravity hot water cylinder and tank set-up. best to get a couple of quotes from local engineers, see what they suggest as making best use of what you want to achieve.

It is not hard to get something that will work but do it or get it done properly using the correct materials including backflow prevention.

Another one jumping on the assured warmth ECO goldmine bandwagon. Its like the PPI of heating with similar sharks circling to scoop up the cash. Unfortunately the guys on the frontline are working for peanuts taking all the responsibility.

Depends what type joint is in the floor but yes. You can get something to connect to anything.

It is an S trap pan. You can still get them to order. A P trap with a bent pan connector does the same job. Depends how old it is if you would get a similar style tho.

It is a bit of a compromise but leave the biggest lounge rad without the trv and fit the stat in there.

Thanks for that, the point I was getting at was about limestone being used around the outside of the pod, as I have seen loads that just have chippings inside and nothing on the outside.

The council would have difficulty throwing the gas safety regulations at you for this work as everyone else has said, it does not constitute gas work. If they wish to have control over who is doing the work then they should be asking that the work is carried out by a qualified person and if they are that concerned may be they should inspect the work on completion, if they have anyone qualified enough to know what they are looking at.

Yes Ricky agree with this. Misconception is you fill the soak-away pod with lime stone. You sink the pod in the hole and fill the outside of the pod with limestone not the inside. Therefore the pod fills with the condensate water and soaks through the pod into the limestone chippings which neutralise the acidic water.
