Hi,

Just had a call from a friend with the above boiler, they got back from holiday to discover the boiler not firing, after discovering the pressure to be 0 they topped it up but it still doesn't fire up properly, they get a few seconds of hot water then nothing. and no heating.

Plenty of oil in the tank and tigerloop is showing oil.

Any suggestions for possible causes?

Its not showing any lockout lights, they is it firing for 30 seconds or so then cutting out?

Did they reset the high limit ? They might also have to bleed the pump or check the auto air vent. Don't know what model boiler is but it might take about 20 minutes to heat the heat bank before it'll divert onto heating.Could always cheat and turn the hot water stat down !!

Hi,

I have just had a look myself and I bled the pump, which had no air, I opened the cap on the AAV and it poured out water (so that is faulty anyway).

The burner turns on for about 30 seconds and then stops so it is never going to reheat the heat bank.

Sorry Croppie, I didn't read the message until I got back. I will check tomorrow.

What sort of burner is on it? Riellos will fire up and stop & repeat every few seconds if photocell dirty or faulty, or flame not decent (often nozzle faulty) or oil pump broken. Only thing left is control box.

I checked the Photocell and it was clean, I gave it a quick wipe over but no change.
