Discuss What kinds of plumbing pipes do I have? in the UK Plumbing Forum | Plumbing Advice area at PlumbersForums.net

Hello. I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping to be able to learn some things as well as contribute as best I can.

This might seem like an odd query, but I need to determine what kinds of plumbing pipes I have, and approximately what percentage of each type. I'd appreciate any help with this.

Please look at the attached photos (in this post and the next). As far as I can tell, I have copper, PEX and ABS plumbing pipes.

1) Is that correct, or am I wrong about the types of plumbing pipes that I have (copper, PEX and ABS)?

2) Have I missed any types of plumbing pipes?

3) I know that it's hard to tell, but extrapolating from the attached photos (in this post and the next), approximately what percentage of each type of plumbing pipe do you think that I have throughout my home (e.g. copper x%, PEX y%, ABS z%, etc.).

Thanks in advance.

Would say 80% pex b 20% copper should be stamped on either part L or m

You need to check the red pex as there was a recall on one type should be written on the side of the pex somewhere

100% abs waste pipe

Thanks for the response. What percentage would you say is regular pipe to waste pipe? Is it 50% to 50% or is the ratio something else?

As water pipes to waste

Would say 65% water 35% waste this is an estimation

Hi, basic question, any insight much appreciated. Looking to have an outdoor tap in my front porch fed from 15mm pex coming up from suspended floor. Pic 1 is inside porch, pex temporarily clipped to give an idea of pipe placement (ignore shoddy blockwork of booted cowboy builder!), Pic 2 is...

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...

Hello all, I'm would like to extend an existing outside tap to another point in the garden. I'm about to pour a concrete patio and was hoping to run the water line underneath. There are existing drain (and who knows what) pipes running along the same wall so I'm nervous about digging too far...

Copper pipes, I think its fair to say, is not what it used to be, the copper is getting thin while the cost is going up. Meanwhile, plastic Pushfit seems to be getting better and better, cost and convenience was always better, but now the quality is to, have we reached a stage where plastic will...

Hi, I seemed to have a blockage in kitchen sink. A plumber came and cleared all the pipework that is visible inside my home (there was debris and pebbles!) We saw that the pipe that takes water down the gutter was visibly full to the top. He said he will return with a coil to push through...
