Hi everyone, i was looking for advice on what hive I need to buy.
my daughter bought a new build house and she want to switch the existing thermostat control to a hive system.
she has a logic system s15 boiler in her kitchen with is linked with a Siemens rwb27si timer under it.
she has 2 thermostats one in the living room and one in the main bedroom both Siemens units.
she has a thermostat evocyl water tank in a cupboard on her landing.
So my questions are:
what hive does she need? a single heating or heating and hot water hive. She only wants to control the operation of the heating and just wants the hot water on demand.
Will additional wiring be required to remove the 2 thermostat controllers. Ie they can’t just be blanked off.
I was Confident about swaping the timer over to the hive if it was just replacing the plate but if more wiring is required will be using a professional so just wanted to know how big a job it will be if additional work is required.
Thanks for reading and any advice would be appreciated.
I have included Pics including the current wiring of the timer plate.

Morning,

You will need one Hive unit that controls the Downstairs heating and hot water times, this comes with receiver and hub, then you will need an additional Hive thermostat and receiver (no hub) to do the upstairs heating.
I would definitely say it is a job for a professional as there will require some rewiring. Best to get a local heating engineer/electrician that knows heating circuits.

Any chance of a further picture back of the cylinder cupboard?

Does it not have to be a G3 engineer to wire up for hot water on that setup? @Steve macc - hot water won’t be on demand as it’s a cylinder, so will need programmed times to come on and off, unless she wants it on all the time via the programmer or immersion heater?

Is the install still under warranty?

She only moved in last year so I think it will be under warrenty but the system works ok she just wants to be able to control it via the hive app and we have a hive system and she’s used to using it!
To be honest I’m not qualified to touch it and really just need to know what hive system to buy.
Im definitely going to leave it to a professional as people aren’t gas safe registered for nothing👍

Cylinder is piped up wrong flow goes to the bottom coil port eg coil 2 where it should go to coil 1 and the return goes to coil 2

You will need two one for upstairs heating and hot water

And a single heating for the downstairs zone

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...
