Hi all, newcomer to the forum here. We have the above boiler and recently come winter it starts playing up. 3yrs ago it was a circuit board which took british gas from November to Feb to aquire and fit. The year after another problem. Last winter it behaved itself but if I remember right it wasn't a bad winter just miserable. Anyway, for the last 5 years or so BG have been telling us it needs replacing and now I'm inclined to agree. As you might imagine info isn't easy to come by on this unit so I was wondering if any of you good people could help as I suppose something of a similar capacity will be necessary. The system is open-vent as I understand it with a header tank, 18 radiators (almost all doubles) and an overly large probably primatic (I'm told) cylinder which we'll replace at the same time. As we have a manitenance contract with them BG are coming out this week to do a survey.
Thanks in advance.
Vinny.

Thanks, tbh I'm not confident in them given our dealings so far. They installed a new pump which even the wife told him was smaller than the one he took out but he assured her was good for the job. The next engineer changed it for a larger one and the last engineer (last night) told us it wasn't running fast enough so he increased the speed! This guy told us a young lady will be coming out to survey but if she felt the job was to big they'd arrange someone else, needless to say we'll be making a phone call. Feels like a comedy sketch :).

Too far for me Vinny, shame I specialise in these works, as yours sounds light commercial spec, rather than domestic spec

Yes they did say commercial. Sorry to read that but thanks for your input.

Copper pipes, I think its fair to say, is not what it used to be, the copper is getting thin while the cost is going up. Meanwhile, plastic Pushfit seems to be getting better and better, cost and convenience was always better, but now the quality is to, have we reached a stage where plastic will...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...

We are from Alberta, and I own an electrical company. I have been asked by a BC Mechanical P. Eng. to install an emergency STOP button at the man-door to the boiler room. It's intent is to 'halt' the operation of the boilers in the room should there be an emergency. He is demanding that I do...
