Hi all,
Could thick black smoke from the flue of a oil combi be the result of a faulty tigerloop, i wouldnt have thought so myself but have been told by my service engineer that the tigerloop is the problem. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I hope your service engineer has now cleaned the boiler & fitted a new nozzle & set the burner with an analyser?
Did he replace the tigerloop?

Boiler was only serviced a month ago. I won't know if he's replaced the nozzle till I get the bill. I'm just intrigued as to how the tiger loop could have been causing the problem. The boiler was still firing no problem and running ok, the only problem was the black smoke. I did notice that the existing tiger loop was smashed when he was working on the boiler. I think he may have smashed it and has had to replace it as a result of that. But he's telling me that the tiger loop was the problem.

Thick black smoke from an oil appliance is a sign that it needs turning off asap and needs the attention of a competent engineer. Could be any number of things.

The only thing I will say is that soot = expense. It aint cheap when I have to get filthy. :)

Blimey! Tha boys trying it on.

If a tiger loop fails your boiler will just stop working through lack of fuel.
