Hi all,

From experience what is the best soldering mat out there. Bought one from toolstation but it's rubbish and leaves burn marks behind. Has anyone used the monument or rothenberger etc ones as after a descent one?

thanks.

the thin black ones arent for soldering really, just collecting solder drop etc. the thicker ones are ok but all of them burn through fairly quickly, however a bit of 12mm insulation panel does a good job at a minimum price.

Ive got a few of the black ones but they will always end up burning and fall apart eventually but ive never had them leave marks behind

can always use the shovel

I've got a really thick fire blanket a pal got me years ago and another mate got me two pieces of fireproof board (not asbestos). I used these on friday soldering the tails onto two new rads where the customer had recently had a new wood floor costing 5K and all new hardwood skirting boards. Nice to breathe again when you've finished !!!!!

Dickydier burn barriers good. Monument good. Clean ur flux off as that's what causes the mats to burn up

Agree on burn barrier have several small metal plates cut to size and bent to shape too.

Ive always used the monument ones and im happy with them, im currently using the small one with a cut out for pipes. No probs so far

i have a high temp soldering mat and also use offcuts of hardi board

I always use these

Every mat will fall to bits after a few months. Don't blast it with heat and it will last longer.

I had a dickie dyer burn barrier which was very good. Since it fell to bits I haven't replaced it and I still haven't burnt owt.

Hi guys. I'm trying to identify a toilet model before ordering a seat for a customer. I went to what used to be a Roca stockist (they no longer are) and one of the guys there reckoned it might be "The Gap". I went to the new stockist and the guy there disagreed it was "The Gap" and that he'd...

Hi, basic question, any insight much appreciated. Looking to have an outdoor tap in my front porch fed from 15mm pex coming up from suspended floor. Pic 1 is inside porch, pex temporarily clipped to give an idea of pipe placement (ignore shoddy blockwork of booted cowboy builder!), Pic 2 is...
