Thanks for the suggestion but I've already looked over their website. They have a diagram of how the cartridge, piston and thermostat fit into the valve body but nothing which shows how to strip the cartridge down. I've tried doing what this guy does
but the base of the cartridge will not budge. Not sure if it comes apart the same on the gummers 1400 valve.
