I have a Vitodens 100-W WB1B 26 kw system boiler. Which I believe needs a new expansion vessel, due to when I tried checking the pressure in this vessel, I had water spray out from the valve ..... Am I right that a split may have occurred ?
If so, is it a simple job to exchange new for old vessels over ???
As my friendly plumber at present is on his holiday :sunny:

sorry to say if the expansion vessel is located in the boiler you need to be gas safe to change/ take the case off the boiler so no

Thanks Shauncorbs.

I just believed it may have been a simple job, alls still working ..... but I wanted to understand if there may be damage being caused at present ........ not realising I would be tampering with the gas.

I will shall await my friends return in three weeks time then :-(

Thanks again

Nick , it could be a quick job but , even if you dont touch the gas it is illegal to take the case off .

Nick, to clarify, as my esteemed colleague's have mentioned removal of the case may well form an integral seal on the boiler which is obviously there for your safety. If you take it apart you won't have the tools or the know-how to test this has been put back properly

Up to my plumbers tan recovery, in three weeks time I guess then .... Riley

As a temporary fix isolate and drain out a rad then open the valves again as this will act as an expansion vessel for a few weeks.

Thanks Duncan but I've ordered the replacement expansion vessel, as written in the Vitodens parts list manual (014).

Just have to wait for Suntan man :) to return in 20 days. With a radiator now acting as the expansion vessel for the time being.

The fittings below are for a mixer bar attached to a self contained shower. i.e not a wall. The attaching screws have snapped. I could get two new brackets, dismantle that existing one and start again or I could try and re attach via those screws, removing the broken ones from the plate and wall...

I have a plumber coming tomorrow to change a cartridge on a badly dripping tap on my bathroom mixer unit. There is no separate isolating valve for this tap so I'll have to close the stopcock. I tried closing it today but it won't go absolutely 100% closed and there is still a very slight flow...

Hello all, I’m replacing a concrete paving slab patio in the back yard. The original patio used 50mm deep concrete slabs on hardcore & sand. I’m planning to pour a 100mm deep concrete patio on 100mm hardcore. In order to achieve the same final height to line up with the rest of the patio, I...

Our kitchen mixer tap has started dripping. Like so much of the plumbing in our almost new build bungalow, it is lacking! The plumber didn't install any isolating cocks in the H&C feed to the tap so how can I identify which of the valves is passing? Shut the whole H&C water system down?
