I have a potterton suprima 50 boiler that is about 11 years old, this boiler is a CAT A
I am thinking of changing to a new condenser boiler, not combi and have lower gas bills I hope. The cost of a new boiler, Vaillant is about £1200 from one quote. I would also fit new modern control bits and bobs.
Does this make economic sense?

How much is your current gas bill each month?

I think for our 3 bed house we currently pay about £45 a month running a 20 year old boiler, so even if when fitting a new efficient boiler that drops to say £25 a month (probably unrealistic), a £20 per month saving would take 60 months (5 years) to recoup the install cost you've mentioned, so I guess you need to do a similar estimated calculation then work it out depending on how long you plan to live there.

The sheer pleasure of assigning another pile of **** with a suprima badge on it to the tip should also be taken into the equation.
