Pump Pliers

Im looking at buying a set of 12" pump pliers,been looking at the rothenberger and the bacho ones, bacho look alot better but alot dearer too. Anyone any recomandations?

get what you pay for chappy as with most tools

find the ones you like and suit your budget best then have a quick look around and check different suppliers for best price

i have the bacho and knipex the knipex is better

I had a pair of 12" rothenberger ones till they got nicked (or lost more likely), bought a pair of lookalike ones off ebay yesterday, look identical, and as rothenberger badge up other brands as their own i have high hopes.

I have bacho, rothenburger and knipex. rothenburger and knipex ones are by far the best. bacho ones are rubbish, they are not very strong and the stupid button you have to press to release them gets stiff after a while. Bachoi adjustible spanners on the other hand are really good.

Got mine through the post this morning, theyre ok, so ok i felt excited enough to let everyone know on here.

I have the Facom ones. Love the ergo grips and the push button release.

rothenberger ro grip pliers there good and dont leave any marks on chrome fittings

Can't beat Irwin Vise-Grip Groovelock grips, I've got 10", 12" and 16", they open much wider than pretty much everything else and grip hard. Not hugely expensive either.

i have channel locks the big un seized solid to day needed a wd-40 bath

Mine have probably sufferd the same fate, the big guns only get used for difficult pump changes, the odd big steel flange etc,.

I use stilsons for anything like that.

Its weird but I rarely use pipegrips to tighten/loosen unions of any description. 90% of my work is with a bahco adjustable spanner or two.

I have loads of pairs of grips, and sure they get used sometimes, but not like other plumbers. Grips tend to slip and scratch things....or maybe I still havent cracked it after all these years! Anyway, spanners and stilsons work for me, so I'll probably stick with them!

bahco adjustables (without rubber grips), rothenberger WP pliers and knipex side cutters are my weapons of choice!
