Yesterday I was attempting to change a diverter motor on an Mikrofill Ethos 54C and accidentally switched the power on (Caught the switch with my knee, in a tight space) with the ne motor attached but not yet in place.
This has resulted in the centre shaft spinning outwards so the it's completely extended. Now it won't fit into the aperture so can anyone tell me how to get it back to the starting position, or do I have to buy a new one?
Cheers

Isn't that boiler classed as a commercial appliance?

Can't you spin the shaft by hand (closed)?

It's not in a commercial boiler setting, and the guys at Ethos referred to it as a domestic combi.
It will only spin down a little way as the shaft is profiled on two sides.

From the installation manual:
The work must be carried out by a competent person as described in the I.S. 813 Domestic Gas Installations with reference to the following codes of practices.

Doesn't matter if manufacturer lists it as commercial/ says commercial on its info page it's classsed as commercial

But ok

Right sounds like either heating or hot water is calling

If it's heating open a hot tap or visa versa should go in

Thanks for that info on the motor position ShaunCorbs, although I can't find anything on the Manufacturers website that defines this as a commercial boiler. Are you thinking of the new ones? They might be but this is the older, discontinued model and it's definitely a domestic boiler according to the support guy that I spoke to last time.
I don't want to work out of scope so I asked him specifically and the answer was that it's definitely a domestic.

Didn't think mikrofill did domestic but if they said domestic your ok

How did you get on ?

Sorted thanks - connected the motor up, placed it on a flat surface, switched the power on, and applied my finger to the 'paddle'. It went back in and I reassembled the the diverter without problem after that.
Incidentally, I spoke to their support team again they afternoon about another part that I thought I might need and was told "hmm, we have that on our commercial boilers but not on the domestics".

:D no wonder I get confused sometimes

I've had this before with a floor standing ideal. They have it down as domestic but because it is in a small office they class it as commercial. Confused the hell out of me completely but as above. I would not want to do something that I shouldn't be.
